question about the Fugu chef retainer

ok i know the Fugu chef retainer is -2 melle attack for infantry but what i want to know is if you are in a 2v2 and both you and your teammate use the Fugu chef retainer do they combine to make -4 attack on your enemy or does your -2 affects the enemy who is across from you and your ally's affects then enemy who is across the enemy.

Only the enemy across from you, same is true for all negative retainers
