Empire freezes at the copyright screen. Need support.

Hello, my game always freezes at the copyright screen and there is nothing i can do to avoid this. Even ctrl+alt+del wont work for me. Many people from almost every total war forum have the very same problem. As this is the official forum, i hope that i can get a solution from the support team.

I tried almost everything: uninstalling and reinstalling the game, deleting the scripts folder, verifying the game cache via steam, installing new directx drivers, installing some suggested dlls into the game folder, shutting down my antivirus, defragmenting my hard disc... nothing helps. I could run this game perfectly for more than a year and when i installed it the last time. I have no mods, all drivers are up-to-date, my PC runs perfectly fine, i have no problems in other applications.

Try installing the Full DX9 libraries: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I know you have Win7 and will say you already have DX11 why bother with DX9, but DX9, 10 and 11 co-exist in a way. So you need the DX9 files updated.

Thank you for your suggestion, but i already tried that. Nonetheless, i tried installing directx 9 again and the problem still remains. I tried installing an older version of the catalyst graphics driver too (version 10.6 - i know that this version worked well), but that changed nothing either. So directx and catalyst drivers are not the problem

and defragment your hd? I've read in some places that people who had problems with hds high degree of fragmentation. the light of your hd remain lit for this crash?

Another option would be to try updating your video codecs (the video is what happens during the crash, no?)
