ok. I was reading yesterday that it was virtually impossible too. But then again the thread I was reading yesterday and the one that you posted are from 2006. I guess I was kinda hoping that someone would have figured something out in the last 5 years.

Exactly, you can not add something to it, you can only change the game's interface (sometimes rigorous ofcourse)
Apparently the stuff you need to change is hard-coded into the game and you would need access to the code. You can't just start making stuff spew out of soldiers randomly. The only way they can add it is to mod what's already there, like perhaps missile projectiles which turn into blood after they hit the soldier.
