Sun is flickering

Hello,

The sun flickers when I watch directly into it and if there are no clouds in front of it (see the Screenshots).
I do not have any other graphic problems with shogun 2, but this one is really annoying.

My specs:

Nvidia GTX 560 Ti (MSI TWIN FROZR II) (290.36)
Intel Core2Duo E8500@3,4GHz
4GB RAM@1000Hz
Win7 Professional (64 Bit, but I had the same problem with Win7 32 Bit) (I have installed every Win7 update available)
ASUS P5Q (Motherboard)

I have already tried nearly every game setting and some versions of the nvidia driver and nothing helped.
I think the problem first startet with the dx11 patch, but I'm not sure.
It's also there in dx9 settings.

I hope someone have an idea how this could be solved!

While making the video (I used FRAPS) the flickering was a lot better. the flickering disappeared after 5 sec after I started making the video after I stopped the recording the flickering returned. very strange.

EDIT:
Making the video locks the framerate at 30 FPS. Maybe this is the reason why the sun stops flickering. Making the video at 50 or 60 FPS didn't stop the flickering. The flickering seems to be somehow connected to the framerate.

What exactly is "flickering" mean.
If you refer to the "corona" of rays around the sound appearing at a certain viewing angle I would think this is to simulate the sun glare from the real world.

but I maybe wrong there.

Yes the "corona" of rays is flickering, when the sun is seen in the screen. It looks very ugly, the texture for the "corona" is turnining on and off several times per second (like typical texture flickering). I can't imagine that this behaviour is intended.

Edit:
I noticed that the frequency of the flickering gets higher when I use the fast forward buttons und gets lower when I pause the game.

Shader flickering or shimmering (google for it) ?. Its kind of a driver artifact.

Could also be AA-flickering or AF-flickering- Two more driver artifacts.

Can you try different AA settings and see if that changes anything ?

I had this issue, I updated Graphics Card, and re-installed the game and it works fine now

, although updating the game through steam took forever

I googled for this issue but I didn't realy find anything usefull.

The issue may be due to a corrupted driver or vestiges of a previous driver that was not completely or properly removed before the new driver was installed.

A thorough method to troubleshoot this potential problem is:

1) Download and install both of the following and uninstall the driver currently installed:

Driver Sweeper 2.8.0 (2.8.5 is not working properly)
http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Dr...Version-2-8-0/
Ccleaner
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

2) Boot your system in Safe mode (Tap F8 as Post-BIOS, and in the menu select: Safe Mode).

4) Run Driver Sweeper, and clean ATI/AMD or NVidia files. After that run Ccleaner, and perform the 2 cleanups available, REGISTRY INCLUDED.

5) When this is done, boot up your system normally, and reinstall your drivers.

6) Check your game now. If it's still not working, perform the following:

- Click the Start button and type: msconfig

If your computer is in Normal Startup do the following:

- Click the Selective Startup button.
- Uncheck the Load Startup items (or Load Startup Group items) box.
*This will make your computer boot up without 3rd party applications so don't be alarmed if the applications showing usually in the system tray are gone*

- Click Apply and Close.
- Restart the computer when prompted.
- Once restarted, if the system configuration window appears, close the window. Select No to restarting if prompted.

PS: You may need to reinstall DirectX, C++ (vcredist), and .Net 4 framework afterwards.

But it didn't help.
I also reinstalled windows on another hard drive recently -> same issue.

Changing aa or af doesn't seem to change anything.

I also tried reinstalling the game -> same issue.

Do you mean the 290.53? I have this one installed now but the issue is still there.
I will now try installing the demo to test whether the issue is somehow patch connected.
