Shogun Freezing at startup

I have had a problem with shogun freezing at startup. I can see the shogun logo and the blue loading ring and then it freezes. I have windows 7 64 bit running on bootcamp since I own a mac. I have updated the sound drivers as I have seen other people with this issue, and it still won't work. I have checked all my drivers, and everything is up to date. I am not hugely computer savvy so I don't know how to bring up the log of errors, I know that when I restart my computer it when it checks for solution it says blue screen, but I don't see it. Interestingly steam has me down for playing the game for at least 10 minutes, which has yet to happen. Please any help. I am quite annoyed. Thanks. These are my computer specs.
two- 2.27 ghz quad core intel xeon processors
8 GBS Ram
two Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT Video cards, but I don't have them linked so it's only running one.

Can you attach the minidump file to the post or is it too big ?

In case it is too big you can do the following:

BUT the STOP error you receive 0x00000124 looks like you will need a BIOS update for your mainboard and I am not sure apple offers any BIOS updates at all.

The only BIOS stuff I could find at apple support was this:

Make sure you have the latest "firmware" for your model and see if that helps in case you need to update.

I searched for the dump and I don't see anything. I haven't been able to play it at all so I don't know if it makes one. As for the BIOS, I am running windows on bootcamp, which I was wondering if I updated the BIOS in it if it would screw up my mac side. They are supposed to be separate, I know they have different partitions, but most updates for bootcamp are done on the mac side. I don't wanna update the BIOS on my windows side and ruin my new awesome computer. If it helps it plays Empire total war alright. i'll look into the firm ware stuff as soon as I get onto the mac side.

Just checked the firmware updates there doesn't seem to be one for my machine. I have a mac pro, not a macbook pro. I have the desktop mac pro.

You should definitely try updating bootcamp as far as possible via the "mac" side. The hardware in boot camp is the same so if the BIOS is upgraded it will be for both "machines".

Maybe contact Apple support and ask them if there might be a BIOS update for this mac pro...I have only little apple experiences myself apart from the claim that apple support is so much superior to standard PC manufacturers.

ETW and NTW seem not to trigger the specific audio driver or BIOS failure which leads to those STOP errors.

Yeah I looked for a BIOS and they don't as such make one at all, since it's an apple motherboard. I did more updates on the mac side but still no luck. I guess I shall get with the Apple support and see what can be done. This really sucks.

Anybody else found any thing that might help me? A BIOS update for a mac made motherboard?

How long did you wait after starting STW2 ? You are running a well, midrange if not low-end graphics...might take a few minutes to launch. Mine takes between 3 and 5 minutes and I have a much faster graphics card.

Maybe try letting it "launch" for quite awhile - especially since the first launch can take longer than the successive launches.

Low end graphics cards? These were the best one's Apple offered with this mac pro. Anyways I have sat for quite a few minutes, but I suppose it's worth a shot to sit even longer. I just don't get why it freezes up everything?


Update, gave it a try, let it sit for an hour. Still nothing. This sucks!

Well...Apple is not known to offer high-end graphics as the intent behind apple systems is to provide functional WORK spaces. And for their designed taks they are well.

Still they are no games cards and no where near high-end at all in this regard. Just check benchmarks and you will see for yourself.

That is frustrating about the graphics cards, I bought the one designed for video processing cause I'm a film student they told me these were good, but I believe you that they aren't. It's not the first time I've been told that and t explains a lot. As for this game I got a refund since it will never work on my computer due to the Bios thing, I was glad the game store was so helpful even after I told them about it being linked and stuff and they can't resell it. Thank you for all your help, I just hope the developers look into this stuff more next time, otherwise I shant be buying any more of there games, which is sad cause I quite enjoy the ones that I can play. Since your here is there a way to get the original Shogun to work on this newer windows? It's better than nothing for now.

Hey, you have Realtek Audio drivers right? (sorry, didn't bother reading through all the info as it's very late for me, but thought this might help) well, if you do, go ahead and delete them and replace them. This may solve your problem, as it did for me Total war games tend to have a certain.... hatred against the realtek sound drivers...
