The TWC is a confusing place at the best of times, some people seem to think this mod is out now and some think it isn't.

Does anyone know if it is for sure and can you post a link to the release thread if it is please.

Edit: Mod has now been released, here is the release thread.

Well, it isn't yet. I agree that TWC can be a confusing place. Here is where you can find the current discussion of Roman Spectrum II: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=374733&page=37

According to the string of posts, the programming is finished, and they are just waiting for the final tweak of the installer.

Cheers for the link I've been watching the thread since you posted it, looks like it will be a little while yet but I'm not bothered I'd rather see a nice stable release than a repeat of the unplayable bug fest that is EB :-)

Blimey I don't know if the RS team are talking about the mod once it is extracted from a zip file or not but I've read that it's 8 gigs in size -that's a lot of work eek.gif

Edit: It's 8 gigs including the base RTW files that the mod sits on lol

Nope. It probably won't be released this day or next, but it's pretty sure that it will be released within this week. They just have to upload and test the installer properly and then they will release it!
I'm really looking forward for Roma Surrectum II. It seems to be the best looking RTW mod out there.

I'll be downloading it once I'm done with a German campaign in Hearts of Iron III.

It's 1000 times better when you watch it full screen in 720HD with your speakers turned right up :D

I remember when I wrote the review for Empire and I called it a RTW beater, it's when you watch something like that video that you realise that RTW is just in a totally different league from the other games, it's literally a case of there's Rome Total War and then there's the other games in the series.

Shire I agree with you on that, there is something about Rome total war that sets it a part from the rest

Played this mod today and it was well worth the wait, graphics are excellent but the best thing of all for me is that the campaign mode has had so much more added to it in the way of city building options.

If you're looking for a mod to try out I highly recommend this one :-)

I have no hesitation in saying that RS2 is the best mod ever created for the TW series. They have improved on so much! Just can't get enough of playing it.

i have to wonder why CA isnt trying harder to have their games more moddable, people are still playing RTW because of these awsome mods (and multiplayer) but in 2 years i doubt anyone will be playing empire...

Oh I forgot to mention, in this mod Sparta is an entire faction on their own -how cool is that?

In my current campaign the backstabbing Greek States just wiped out my faithful Spartan allies. :(

Lol, your probably right. Maybe I should have got off my ass and helped them a little earlier but they were defeated much sooner than I thought they would. They do start off pretty weakly with just one settlement under their belt which puts them at a disadvantage against the likes of Greece.

Loving the mod. :) But **** were those Macedonian phalanxes hard to beat (playing as the Romans) ! I'm happy I didn't have to fight any bridge battles against them as I conquered Greece. I had to ship stack after stack from Rome to beat them since the allies didn't have enough weapon or experience upgrades. :D Luckily it's quite easy to encircle a phalanx operated by the AI. :)

Shireknight -- did you download, load 'er up, hit the "GO" button and start the Roman Campaign (like I did?):o Or did you go to the TWC forum and read all the fine print about the intracacies (sp?) and complexities (sp?) of the RS2 economic system and "Leadership Ladder," etc. etc.?

I went about 30 turns, thinking that I had started with a bang. Immediately raised taxes to Very High everywhere possible, had over $50K coming in from the get-go. Didn't know what all the new buildings did, but built something in every city anyway. Ginned up about 6 full stacks, killed Hannibal on the 2nd turn, trained a pretty good assassin and a couple of spies. Built a 10-ship fleet, defeated the Carthagenian navy right away, sailed two stacks to Spain and captured Cartegena (sp?).

Then the Macedonians totally wiped me away in the city I held (whose name I've already forgotten!) across the Adriatic from Italy, and I'm being hammered in Northern Italy by the Gauls or someone. I find that my income now barely covers expenses, so can't afford any more troops.

Only then did I bother reading the new RS2 economic model, in which I learned that raising taxes to max is the key to economic disaster.:( Lots of other good stuff on the TW Central RS2 forum too -- like how to best play each faction.

So, I'm going to rack up my RS2 Roman Campaign as a failure and a learning experience, and start over again.
