Thank you for your clarity and honesty. It's really appreciated.

Well, at least they're learning from the Rome 2 debacle.

At least they finally admit that their "in-engine trailers" also contain some extra goodies which may never be included in the actual game (e.g. combat animations), though I think this would have been mandatory to put out while the trailer-hype for Rome 2 was going on.

"Before launch it is also likely to be marked ‘Development in Progress’, in which case you can expect it to be representative of the final game, but you should be aware that it is not the final game and anything you see is subject to change as the game is worked on."

Little bit risky. There's nothing stopping the designers putting any number of things in the trailers without the developers consent.

Ensure the developers are there to state what is and what isn't possible.

    @Creative Assembly,

I keep a collection of game trailers on my PC.

Surely when you send these videos to other game news websites, you don't send them in web-streaming quality form, rather in highest lossy quality form if not even in lossless form.

But those videos aren't available to the public for download. Could you perhaps create a torrent for the trailers, seed for a short moment and let us to deal with its distribution?

No misleading in-engine/in-game cinematic is all we need.
If custom animation/effects are used within the game engine, it must be either very minor or extremely obvious, else you will invariably give a false impression.

The question is, is the battle for blackfire pass demo misleading because it shows a 40 v 40 battle when CA has stated the unit cap is 20 v 20?

That is why these videos are marked as "Development in Progress"; during the progress of development changes may be made to code.

does this mean you haven't 100% fixed on a unit cap or that this was done as a test and it will be 20 going forward

this particular change to the code is a bit disappointing, you will agree !
Now we have tasted the 40 units control in big battles in the previous TW, and then the new ones would go back ?
Hope you will be able to fix this limit !! or at least make it available as an option (unchecked by default) if it is a performance criteria

How can it be set as "Development in Progress" when the time of the gameplay demo being shown and the interview in which a CA member said 20 units was the cap - was literally on the same day? So,was the decision made to make 20 units the cap made on the same day as the demo was shown?

I feel showing a 40vs40 unit battle, but then in the same period of time saying 20vs20 was the cap for control - is a little bit of false marketing...

but the demo wouldn't have been made that day so it might have been in the making of it they came to the conclusion it needed to be 20x20

BUSTED! Hahaha, if that is true, nicely done Kirkulius. I suppose the demo was made marginally before he made the statement, bull still #FightForTheOption

Which is what people were upset about with the Rome 2 demo. Right?

I fail to see how this is much different. I started another, somewhat purposefully scathing, thread on the subject but most people seem to defend CA saying this was not misleading.

I get that the game could be school of fish if they wanted with everything being in development. But aren't people going to say something when their blackfire pass quest battles are half the size from what they originally saw?
