A Wild Valkia the Bloody appeared!

So I was sulking over the lack of Skullcrushers in the Chaos Warriors DLC.

Then I thought: There might be a whole Khorne themed DLC, which I'd up to €5 for, with Valkia the Bloody as legendary lord, Scyla Anfingrimm as hero and Skullcrushers, Skullreapers and Wrathmongers and the Slaughterbrute as appropriate unit additions.

Then I thought, that's quite possible, but what if Valkia, whom I came to sulk even more over, was actually in the game!

From the lore we know that she appears over battlefields where Khorne sees "great" deeds being commited, giving a morale boost to everyone affiliated with the Blood God by slaughtering the biggest and nastiest foe on the battlefield with a thunderous charge from the skies. In the rules, she will attack anyone, on her side, who breaks from combat in her vicinity.

This, as a special combat event happening once in a while, if you've been engaged in melee combat for a long time (maybe only with Mark of Khorne units?), would be JUST as good as being able to play her, or even better! It could work like the WAAAGH! meter, but not visible to the player, or it could be more random.

I see her staying on the battlefield until one of your units break, or maybe only as long as you have the amount of warriors in close combat, that were so when she arrived. Or maybe a timer, that'd go down, but be refreshed as long as you have enough people in close combat.

Anyway. Just a fun idea, that I think would bring some real character to the army, and make god-specific armies all the more fun, by adding a bit of random lorefriendly slaughter and encourage players to play their khorne soldiers as khorne soldiers should be played.

What do you think? and do you have any ideas for something for the other gods?

Here's the lore bit from the 8th edition book:

    Under her own page:

Every new dawn, she descends from the skies, taking more skulls for her diabolic paramour and choosing those who will fight on in the Realm of Chaos after their death. The Warrios of Chaos fight all the harder in her presence, for it is said the gaze of Khorne lingers about her still. Many Champions reouble their efforts knowing that the Blood God despises cowards and will strike down those who flee, whilst others see a chance to gain his attention on the field of slaughter, knowing that to become one of his chosen is a price beyond measure.

    In the "history" section:

[Archaon, on his quest to gather the artefacts of the Everchosen, has just torn out the heart of a Dark Elf assassin and offered it to a Warshrine]

    Fury of the Gorequeen
The heart in his hands began to beat once more and a great bolt of lightning, as red as freshly spilled lood, rent the sky asunder. The gods had answered.

    Fury of the Gorequeen
Descending to the battlefield upon wings of fire came Valkia the Bloody. The crimson champion howled an unholy challenge as she dove towards the Black Dragon [a Dark Elf sorceror is riding the Dragon], and all eyes turned skywards to witness the epic aerial clash.

Valkia moved with the fury of the wind, and lopped the Sorceress' head from her shooulders before she could utter a single incantation. With its mistress slain, the Dragon went berserk, snapping its jaws wildly as it tried to bite the Gorequeen in two. It's aimless wrath was nothing compared to the focused rage burning in Valkia's veins, and blood rained from the sky as her spear tore great gashes in the Dragon's hide. Valkia drew fresh strength from every blow, and with one final slash, she sliced open the dragon's throat, casting its lifelss body to the ground below.

Valkia's victory cry was terrible to hear and as she plunged into the defenders below, the Bloodsworn [a band of Khorne warriors that Archaon joined forces with during the battle] redoubled their efforts, knowing that with the Gorequeen present, Khorne would be watching them all. sensing that the enemy was on the verge of breaking, Archaon plunged onwards and the Swords of Chaos [Archaon's warband] went with him. Like a great tide of death they went, striking a deadly hammer blow against the Dark Elf lines. The enemy broke and were quickly ripped apart in a tide of razor claws, grasping tentacles and snapping teeth.

    The Altar of Ultimate Darkness
[...] Archaon reconsecrates the Altar and gains the mark of chaos [...]
Of Valkia there was no sign, for Khorne had called his Gorequeen to another blood-soaked field.

If this Khrone DLC becomes a thing, I want to see that guy who goes around insulting people into fighting him. Think his name might be Wulfgar or something like that?

Valkia was someone else I wanted to see as well. Cause she's awesome.

I think they will add a Chaos Daemons race later on, which would have Valkia as a LL.

Valkia is not part of the Daemons roster. She is Warriors of Chaos.

Wulfric the Wanderer. But he isn't Khorne specific. He bears no mark in the rules, but the miniature has all marks

I would throw the game away if Valkia became a Daemons LL. I think I can safely say that, as chances are very slim. She's not a Daemon.

You know, having Sigvald instead of Valkia does seem a bit weird, since she fills an interesting niche of being a flying infantry commander while Sigvald is just your average CC infantry Lord. As far as I know, there is no LL who is simply a flyer (not including mounts of course) and melee monster. Valkia would fill that spot. (granted, it's possible they don't really know how to do that yet but whatever. still an unfilled niche).

If nothing else I think she's simply really cool with the wild screams and bloodthirst and ****. God, I love this kind of character! Full armour, a SPEAR(!), horns, hooves and at least not so pronounced boob-plates. Totes a fave!

Just, please. Tone down the whole "Khorne has the hots for her" bit. Not enjoying that very much.

I think that part reveals an interesting side to the "blood god". Its an aspect og the human emotions that khorne embodies., that you easily forget.

Id say the intro where she slays the slaanesh Daemon Prince saves her from becoming a sex object in the lore.

Which brings me back to the point of the initial topic: Special combat events.

She isnt really a Chaos Lord ind the sense Sigvald and Archaon is. She's not really a 'free' character or a leader of armies. Shes an inspiration and an idol. Which is why I think this sort of event would dit her much better!

I've been looking into Valkia's lore since this thread, and the more I hear about her the more I want her in the game. One hundred percent agree here (although, I do hope they focos on sorting out other races before thinking about additional LL DLC for factions that already have a roster of 3!)

Sounds like a similar way I'd love to see the Green knight work, I approve.
    Don't worry.

They'll announce her in the coming months, i'm sure. I don't think there's much reason to expect that she's been placed in the game as some kind of Ultra-Death-Goddess-Critical-Hit surprise.
"Raise them, Necromancer. Set brother against brother. Let's give our hosts something worthy of recording in their pathetic book of complaints, shall we?"
The Queen of Mysteries, on the Book of Grudges.

Her voice was as rustling silk. "In the darkness I dreamt of you, cousin."
"Hawk no longer. My wings are dust and bone. I crawl through time now, like an asp."
"You took my wings, Neferata. You made me crawl. Now I return the favour. Crawl, cousin. Crawl."

When the pre-order bonus was "get to play as non-playable WoC" and then said WoC were purely unaffiliated, I expected separate factions for the different gods to come later. Valkia is definitely who I expect as the primary LL for Khorne based WoC. Unfortunately, I'm not expecting the affiliated WoC factions to necessarily show up in game 1.

As marks of Chaos are part of their mechanics in their current build, I expect the Warriors of Chaos not to change to much in the expansions beyond getting at least one LL for each power. With perhaps the power aligned LLs effecting how often you get each mark eg. If you pick Sigvald you are more likely to aquire marks of Slannesh.

Purely unaffiliated? SIGVALD is a LL for WoC in the DLC! He's just as affiliated as Valkia and Festus

Is it also confirmed that you "get" the marks and not "choose" the marks?

I think they said they worked like the banners? So you get them, but choose when and where to put them? :)

Not much is known other than you "earn" them in some way, and once earned they can be equiped to a unit in the pre-battle menu buffing the selected unit in the same way magic banners do. They only last one battle, hopfully they are commonly aquired enough so that the player can always have a few marked units per battle.

Marks are loot earned in battles, similar to lord and hero items. It's already been said Marks for WoC, Banners for Empire and Runes for Dwarves. They don't change the appearance of the unit in battle.

I see Valkia (pls bring her eventually...) as your average LL general. Probably focused heavily on both boosting unit morale in battle and close combat and little else. Not seeing WoC using many "surprise/occasional" units the way the Green knight would be used.. If any chaos army would use it, it would probably be any of the other, Tzeentch deamons in particular I feel. Not WoC and especially not Khorne and Valkia.

I mean for it to be an uncontrollable character, much like the grrenskins waagh companions, but limited to combats and not dependable, like a normal lord.

It isn't about trickery or well thought out plans, its the khornes gaze! It's not supposed to be a surprise unit, like an ambusher, its supposed to be an uncontrollable event :)
