What does "points" in our profile mean?

I am supposed to have 32 and I am not sure if I should be glad or worried about it.

First guy to answer my question gets a beautiful painting signed by me and addressed specifically to him.

It's nothing to worry about. You should also see badges in your profile for various reasons (number of posts, length of service etc.). Each badge gives so many points, plus you also get points when people "like" your posts.

Ha, I didn't know that posts are likeable.

Perhaps it's a feature of the new forum skin or I suck at noticing stuff.

It's a feature that has only been introduced in the last few weeks. Hover over a post near the Quote option.
