The Dwarfs are nice but I think they lack flair and originality. Still, you have painted the whole army well and it is a really good overall effect I think
Its not complete the army Standard Bearer, The Dwarf Lord, several heroes and all but one warmachine have yet to be painted. Hopefully like the Bretonnians the army standard bearer should add a bit more flair where units from clan silverspear displaced long ago from mount silverspear will become more obvious. Time will tell though while i love the dwarfs my pride and joy are my Bretonnians.
Yeah I think it shows too, your Brets are really nice to look at, especially the banners, you added a lot of details. Though I must say your layering technique could use a little bit of practice, but it's only a small thing because overall your armies look very sharp.
You've got some very old Dwarf models there! I can even see the whiskers on the cannon !
"I'm gonna stomp 'em to dust. I'm gonna grind their bones. I'm gonna burn down dere towns and cities. I'm gonna pile 'em up inna big fire and roast 'em. I'm gonna bash heads, break faces, and jump up and down on the bits that are left.

I always preferred GW older metal models over the plastics. Both my Dwarf and Bretonnian armies are comprised mostly of the older models with a few exceptions.

@Kayosiv I really like those vines on the Slann that you sculpted, they look excellent! Really good idea, and you did the leaves well too.
When you sculpt with green stuff / modelling putty, you have to leave it to cure for a short period of time if you want to get really clean cuts when you cut grooves and lines into it like you did. If you don't, it tends to "snag" and "squash" (pushing the blade into the putty depresses a wider area of it than intended) on the knife or sculpting tool and ends up not looking right. That being said I think you did a decent job overall I think.
Are you going to base your other models the same way? That would look really cool.
Here is my current conversion technique for my heavily skeleton theme based necro army. Not paint jobs yet. Broke my finger last weekend which is going to prevent this for awhile lol
Before on left after on the right. They will all be decked out like this
@bennymcl That's some impressive green stuff work, well done.
That was the first conversion I had done with cloth in my life lol... most of my Warhammer days were when I was much younger and had muuuuch less patience .. Thanks! Hoping it will all look awesome when done !!

Just remember to honour your efforts with a worthy paintjob.

That was my first ever foray into using Greenstuff. I figured, vines, what a great beginner project, right? I'm decently happy with the result but it certainly could be improved.
I hadn't planned on basing the rest of my lizardmen with vines. I've got some cork and jungle foliage I'm working with and for the infantry I plan to do some Aztec themed stone plates.
Meanwhile, my current project is painting up my converted Crypt Horrors.

@Kayosiv ooh very nice. enjoy seeing conversions. i wish i had my models. i'd take pictures and post them but all my models are quite a few states away
Anything that is not the original model .. it could be anything like all the green stuff and different shield / sword / spear I gave my skeletons or it could be as easy as giving a different head to a lord or hero model. It ranges greatly. But generally it's just when you change something from the original design / way the model was made to be !!
Conversion is a huge part of what attracted me to the hobby in the first place.
Other miniatures games like Heroclix, X-wing, War Machine, all have models that either come out of the box looking 1 way, or are assembled 1 way. If 2 players have the same piece, it will look the same.
In Warhammer, you can make your miniatures unique, as long as it is obvious what they are. My crypt horrors for example all have weapons. The crypt horrors out of the box only assemble in 3 poses. I wanted 8 unique poses so I added weapons, repositioned arms, and added bits.
That bell on they crypt horror? Came from a skaven kit.
3-Face my skeletal champion? Pieces from 2 different skeleton kits, the black knight kit, and a chaos marauder cloak, with a rock found from the zombie dragon kit.
Things like the vines on my slann were sculpted by myself, and the floating chains on my cairne wraith are actual chains glued together to look like they are floating link by link, combined with chains from multiple other sources and boxes.
I have seen armies of fantastic theme and conversion. Empire Demigrpyh riders who go to battle on giant swans. Gyrocopter blimps. Chaos Warriors who are dressed up as heavy metal rockstars, a completely vampire counts themed tomb king army. The creativity and hobby skills of players is a joy to see.
This is why I think an army painter is so important in the game. Making your army unique to you and customization is a HUGE part of the tabletop experience, and I'd like Total War: Warhammer to capture that feeling of ownership as best it can. If you could add unique banners and skins/colors to your armies, it would make everything just that much better.

Agree with Kayosiv her, it's the reason I like GW minis so much, they give you options. Those Skeleton Warriors sets? They are full of things you can add and change and unless you make 300+ skeletons no two would look the same if you wanted that. They have posability, multiple different head arm and torso options...it's just great.
It's the reason I still buy from GW even though Mantic Games exists, the models are top notch, though still sometimes the price is a bit silly.
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE, MILK FOR THE KHORNE FLAKES!
Today I got my first regiment, will be collecting and painting first so let's start with Black Knights of Vampire Counts, wantee to buy Vargheist but it was £29 need to find cheaper place to buy online.
I'll post update after painting it, obviously not today need to find good colors and theme, will probably use combination of red and black/charcoal, this will be Drakenhof legion.

If you want cheaper models, browse eBay or just google "25% off Warhammer".
CANNOT wait for Dark Elves! Malekith seems to be the definite LL option, but I'd love to see Morathi, and Malus Darkblade as well. And cant forget the Hydras! I wasn't going to unbox all my Darkies but had these to lord options on a shelf in my basement. Also love my Brets but again since 8th died everythings been put away...
Or look at the Kings of War line of miniatures from Mantic Games. Much cheaper models and their zombies are so much better looking than the GW ones
Ehhh... Kings of War miniatures have a much lower quality than GW, but you are right about the Zombies.
It's hit and miss with them really, their zombies are better, I would argue their ghouls are better (more realistic, GW ones are goofy), they have a nice necromancer model and their black knights (or revenant cavalry) look quite good, as do their werewolves.
Their other undead models are personal preference. I prefer GW skeletons and Grave Guard for example but Mantic ghouls.
If nothing else check them out, it can't hurt and if you like any of their models then that saves you a lot of money.
