Regional Occupation

I, for one, would like to conquer the world, as that has been the end goal for every Total War game I have played. Rome, Medieval 2, Empire, Napoleon, Rome 2, and Attila are the games I have played and every game I played had one end goal. Conquer the world. That is what it has always been about for me. So why is this happening. If CA actually listened to their fans, maybe they could see a pattern of hate threads directed at the broken and railroaded regional occupation mechanic.

Personally I agree with CA . Orcs, for instance, don't conquer and assimilate and govern. They raid , burn and massacre. Same as chaos and vampire counts. The races in warhammer world are all trying to kill each other true but nearly all don't care about conquering territory. With the exception of the dark elves maybe and ulthuan. The bad guys want to millisecond else. The good guys want to either reconquer and return to golden age or make themselves secure/United.

Well , the problem is, not all fans think like you. as a tw fan since shogun 1 and also warhammer since 1996, I personally like the regional system, simply because it makes total sense, in a universe that isn't real

Leave the "conquer the world" thing to humans in the historic TW games and please, let's be a little more tolerant with changes, ok?

One thing I am not sure of and I have not seen anything mentioned is:

Can we actually fight with these non nemisis factions? If so, we can still raid and raze them and perhaps the razed lands will in turn be colonized by a faction that we can 'occupy'.

why not? the game it's called total war, also all warhammer faction love fight each others.

There is a 55 page thread on this topic already.

You can fight with everyone, you can raze and raid everyone, you can never occupy lands that are not within your factions limits. Empire/vamps can never take over dwarves and greenskins and vice versa.

Also Vamps totally do assimilate and govern. Sylvania was part of the empire when Vlad arrived and took over. He did a much better job governing it that the previous counts and was much more popular among the local populace as well. In fact basically all the Von Carsteins were/are trying to become emperor.

Orcs also do settle down, the Badlands was once the domain of a group of vampires (why vampires cannot take it over now nobody know) but they were forced out by the arrival of the orcs.

Chaos - nobody know what chaos wants as every author changes them every time they feel like it.

@tigerofserbia let me guess, I don't have your opinion so I'm not a "true" fan of Total War.

There is no true consensus among the total war community.

And it would have been really simple to have not bumped this thread. You and those that thing we shouldn't discuss this topic anymore could simply have seen the title of the topic, and ignored it. Its really as simple as if you wanted to get an economic victory or that other having the self control to not conquer a territory and instead win through a different means.
