Can't start Total war rome ii without crashing

I just bought the game and installed it, after the long wait eager to start playing the game just wouldn't start. After doing some research I found it could be a problem with the langue settings of my mac after changing it to English and re-downloading the game it still will not start up.
As I paid 60 euros for the game this is quite a bummer.

same propblem with new top of the line macbook pro, the app store version does not seem to work for anybody from reviews ;-(
