My Cordoba campaign was crashing around turn 24 due to Frankish separatists taking a minor faction's settlement. I finally got it fixed, and here's how I did it:
I downloaded SaveParser, (
https://sourceforge.net/projects/saveparser/)put the correct paths in the .ini using Notepad,
copied the offending save,
loaded it into SaveParser,
located the Frankish Separatists (44), and reduced their strength in the Edit section
File>SaveAs over the old save
Tell me how all of your fare.

Sometimes, you can also just remove the fog of war with a mod (browse the workshop) and pass the turn to get rid of the crash.

0 · Disagree AgreeHow to use SaveParser :
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?637771-SaveParser-Editor-for-Total-War-savegames-v1-15-0-1
I will try to find an explanation of how to change region's owner by using EditSF.

0 · Disagree AgreeDid you find a proper way to change region ownership?
If yes, a detailed description would be nice.
But I have to say, I haven't experienced this crash in AoC so far... my game is at turn 111, although no separatists appeared, maybe that's why.

0 · Disagree AgreeI gave the Eastern Roman Separatists' settlement to the Sassanids.
To do that, I :
- opened the save file by using SaveParser
- browsed the factions to identify the Sassanids ID
- browsed the regions to find the ERS' settlement
- right-clicked to open it in EditSF
- changed the owner's ID to the Sassanids' one
I then loaded my campaign and saw it had worked.
I can't do screenshots right now as I am not using my computer. I will be able to do that tomorrow evening if needed.

How to reveal the map :
- Activate the mod then launch the game and load your campaign
- Recruit a spy and move it a little bit if the map does not refresh instantly
How to get the FoW back :
- turn off the mod
- load your campaign
- disband your spy
- end the turn

0 · Disagree AgreeI just found this thread. Although I haven't found yet a solution to it, Finding out abut the infamous bug of the Eastern Roman Separatists, I opened it in SavePaser editor, which revealed to me that it comes from the fact of them stocking gargantuan amounts of immobilized armies until the game can't handle them anymore and then fatally crashes at any given point (in my case about turn 165).
It is actually like a cancer, growing horrendously somewhere in the map.
I accompany my exposition with some captures to illustrate my point.
Can you see them in the corner of French Bretania, piling themselves like fleas?
And so, to avoid the crash, you need to get rid of that infamous spam, though I don't still know how to do it.
I hope my information can help clarify it for anyone who has this problem and get in the way of a fixture.
Regards

0 · Disagree AgreeSorry about the late reply, I wasn't notified your post. In fact, I couldn't find a real way around it neither by savegames editing. That poisones the file for me too, and I also tried it a lot of times. But nothing to do.
So the only solution I could essay (and wich worked) was to give one of my guys inmense movement rate (by altering the general's escorts unit stats with the PackFileManager) and combat power, then hunting the
ratsEastern Roman Separatists one by one. Rough but effective. That kinda worked- they never did it again (and if they tried they would get bitten again).Yeah, I now it's not the kind of solution one wants but... at least it works, if there is nothing better...
I hope this helps out those who read this in need for it.

0 · Disagree AgreeI tried to use the solutions listed here, such as the strenght reduction, but the bug still apeared a few turns later. I can't move the armies with SaveParser, and the settlements' owners are locked in the program. So i found a mixed solution, i deleted the fog of war with a mod, take a screenshot of the separatist regions, loaded a previous save and send an army to take them.
Why i have to load an old save? Because the saveparser bugged my save, i received CTDs starting battles, or exit to Windows.
Until now, it worked perfectly. Wish me luch to anhilate this bastards. And forgive me for my broken english, i just wanted to help and thanks you all.
