We discovered some issues with the game not starting on Intel HD 500 series GPUs, and we’re pleased to report we’ve now isolated and fixed these problems.
We’ve activated a beta version of the game including this hotfix, so people running the game on these GPUs can get playing.
The downside is that you won’t be able to play multiplayer with people who are playing the main game but aren’t in the beta, as you’ll effectively be running a different version of the game. This will be remedied when we complete our longer-term testing on the fix, and we’ll update the main game with it soon - so keep an eye on our support forums for news on that.
In all other respects, this beta is functionally identical to the main game.
To install and play the beta, please follow these steps:
1) Open your Steam Library 2) Right-click on Total War: WARHAMMER and select Properties 3) Click the Betas tab at the top of the panel 4) Click the dropdown menu and select intelhd500series_hotfix 5) Allow your build to update (shouldn’t take long!)
Please note that this is a beta, and has some known issues of its own. When you run the beta version for the first time, your graphics settings will default to Ultra. We recommend that you manually change your settings to Low, and switch your resolution to 1280 x 720, in order to achieve optimal performance on this family of GPUs. You may also notice some visual bugs such as missing ground textures. These will all be resolved by the time we patch the main game.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience, and we hope you enjoy the game!
