more ships more money?

I guess the yellow anchor with a circle around it is called a node. The Spanish put several ships on a node. Does this make for more trade?

Also, is there anyway to get enemy ships out of a port?

Yes, the yellow spot is a trade node. You should stack three or four trade ships on as many as you can get. If you cover all the trades nodes in a place then there is a slight trade bonus.

If it is one of your ports then move a land unit into it. The fleet will move out and you can repair it. Also, if you have a military fleet of your own blocking the port while then enemy is in it, you will get a naval battle when you move the unit into it.
