Just my theory.

The Eagle: Tzeench, the changer of ways. Watching the world as Eagles do.
The Crow: Nurgle, lord of decay. Crows are scavangers, looting and eating the decaying dead.
The Serpent: Slaanesh, lord of pleasure. The slithering seductions and temptations of the snake.
The Hound: Khorne, the Blood God. The hounds of war are his.

Stated from the steam page: store.steampowered.com/app/455040/Total_War_WARHAMMER__Norsca/

"Allegiance to the gods
When conquering a settlement, Norscan factions have a unique new post-battle option. Alongside Occupying and Looting, they may choose to Raze a settlement and erect a monolith to one of the four dark gods, who they personify as the Eagle, the Crow, the Serpent and the Hound. The more monoliths that are erected, the more favour the gods bestow. Rewards are granted in the form of increasingly powerful campaign and battle bonuses and, in certain cases, unique units or characters.

Victory Conditions
By pledging your allegiance to a god fully and securing its final and greatest reward, you trigger the road to campaign victory. The gods are jealous, and the three you have spurned will not take kindly. They will dispatch their most powerful champions to challenge your supremacy, activating a series of quests which culminate in an epic endgame experience."

So if I chose to worship The Hound, I will have champions of the other gods sent against me.

This is fantastic CA. Absolutely fantastic.

Chaos will receive some love, one day

Their coup de grace will come in game 3, with chaos divided that enevitably leads you (the chaos player) becoming the unifier with means of appeasing all 4 chaos gods like the Everchosen should.

Absolutely love everything about this new DLC! And this also just sounds so much more fun than WoC.
I'm sure they will have their moment in the sun, we need not worry.

So are you gonna help me not cry as much about it?
I even want Chaos to have stuff like the Brass Citadel.
Uh oh, here comes the tears again....
Who knows, maybe in game 3 they expand the map northward and the realms of chaos get added. Sigvald's places, the slumbering Krakanrok, the Brass Citadel etc...

I wonder if these "unique units or characters" will be different from what we have seen already, or if they will just be, say, red/green/blue/purple-clothed marauders?

Should be correct. The crow is Nurgles sacred animal. The Raven on the other hand is clearly Tzeentch (member: Warhammer Online - The Raven God). The Kurgan see the condor as symbol for Tzeentch, I guees throwing in now a "eagle" is near enough. Slaanesh is clearly associated with snakes and serpents. It is also kind of a theme with his chosen and/or daemons getting snake like bodies. I can't remember if Khorne had a sacred animal. probably not but his Fleshhounds are fitting enough and he is the only one without clear indication left anyway.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out for Nrosca. Could be kind of a live betatest for game#3 and the assumed WoC god themed addon.

Surtha Ek will appear as a final battle of the campaign, you have to win him and his chariot legions of doom. The most hardcore Total War experience ever, you thought Western Rome campaign in Attila was hard!?

I'm glad CA got this right about the Norscans. They don't see the Chaos Gods as the Warriors of Chaos does. The Norscans view them in different aspects, and different tribes have different names for the Chaos Gods. For example, "The Serpent" is one aspect of Slaanesh that many Norscans hold. Another aspect of Slaanesh is "Shornaal". It is not uncommon for the Norscan tribes to worship several gods that are in fact one and the same Chaos God.

CA have streamlined the Norscan view of the Chaos Gods with symbolic animals, but this is very much based on the lore. It would have been too complicated if all the tribes' different interpretations of the Chaos Gods were implemented.

It definitely fits. Having a serpent on you is a tell tale sign of whom you worship. In whatever name, it doesn't really matter.

Keeps it simple, but on point. I like it. Gives me hope for how they will treat Araby and DoW.

This is definitely the part that most caught my attention. What new units or characters could we get? Like you said, are they unique things that weren't included in the roster release, or are they just recolors/units with upgraded stats? Could they be RORs for Norsca? That would actually be pretty cool

Iceforged Legion is just 4 Hellcannons.

Didn't play with the Sorcerer, but i imagine it apparently has a mix of fire and death. And it rides a Dragon.

The Lord of Change is pretty **** awesome. It provides +8 Melee attack and Defense to all units in your army, has a global recruitment pool that has the duration's of all recruitment cut in half and has a mix of the lore of Death and Metal.

Gotten a bit further along in the campaign now. All of Norsca unified or temporarily razed by my own forces. Starting towards Slaanesh this time around. Interesting is that it doesn't matter if a monolith is torn down you don't lose the experience towards your God level. Which I find to be nice.

Just started going south into Kislev with Wulf and having a blast. Not done any monster hunting yet though.

Easily more fun than a Chaos campaign. The perfect meld of settlements and hording. If the southern realms wanted to they could easily wipe you out if they wanted to though but they are too concerned with their own affairs.

But so far I think this is probably the most fun campaign I've had so far and I'll probably do a load of these campaigns before Warhammer 2 hits. Might even take Norsca over the Empire or Dwarfs for a first Grand Campaign.

I've not played Norscan yet, but this combined with receiving stacking factionwide buffs from buildings should make for a really entertaining playthrough.

As a freebie for prepurchasing II it seems to be a much better & rounded dlc than chaos was.

I am not looking forward to mammoths in my empire save :grimace:
