I just think this is an interesting topic on how CA has handled Skaven Jitterspeak in game 2. Give it a read and say what you think below.

Personally now that this is brought to my attention I have to say I am feeling super dissapointed.

Judging by that piece of Queek's speech from the stream CA completely missed the point of skaven way of speaking. Indeed they add synonyms of the most important words in a phrase, not just repeat the same random word twice for no reason.
Now I kinda regret I saw this topic, might not notice this when playing..maybe :/

Didn't think it was too big a deal until I read that.

Wow, kind of disappointed, but at least CA got it it down a little bit.

    /

they do not always add synomyms... "kill-kill" "yes-yes" "no-no"
Every wrong is recorded. Every slight against us, page after page, ETCHED IN BLOOD! Clan Gunnisson! Karak Eight Peaks! JOSEF BUGMAN! TOTAL WAR TROY FOR ONE YEAR EXCLUSIVELY ON THE EPIC GAMES STORE!"

The Empire still hasn't gotten their FLC LL. We need Marius Leitdorf of Averland!

Where is Boris Todbringer? Have you seen him? For a Middenland DLC with Boris and the Ar-Ulric!

Queek could smell their hatred, ratcheted to a degree that even he could not evoke in their simple hearts. He stepped over the old orange-fur’s body, eager to see for himself what it was they saw. But he heard it first.
    'Waaaaaaaggh! Gorfang!'

Honestly I can't wait for a mod to just silence the little dudes. Thanks to all the people "role-playing" it on forums I can't help but cringe, perhaps I'd find it annoying regardless.

I had already noticed as well. The worst examples seem to be Queek's dialogue on the campaign map.

The intro to the campaign had a more "correct" version with "We must seek-find the screaming one!"

Yeah i was looking forward to hearing them, but after seeing the TB videos i'm already at the point of "jesus just shut up already!". Kinda sad considering practically EVERY other game has made skaven speech into a cool feature.
It's never too late to panic!

Well in Vermintide, repetition happens quite often, usually when Skaven mobs shouts (difficult to hear with music on, I admit) but usually Clan Rats do talk like that:

"Kill-Kill the man-things" and similar happens.

But I didn't expect that all the Skaven talk like Queek Headtaker (who is dumb a lot and have this speech by default even in armybook)

It is not that they repeat that thats how skaven talk. It's about that they repeat the wrong words, for example: THE-THE ELF-THINGS ARE-ARE THERE!

I love how the reddit user describes how the skaven use follow up synonyms or similar action words like "The elf-things that fight-kill us shall pay-suffer!" Where CA's skaven are more of a stutter like "The elf-things that march against us-us shall pay-pay!".

I also like the detail where the skaven actually emphasize the most important words in the sentence: THE MAN-THINGS ARE THERE-THERE! But CA's skaven is: THE-THE ELF-THINGS ARE-ARE THERE!

That's pretty interesting. Mind you EG: Vermintide was entirely about the Skaven, so one can imagine they more so wanted to perfect the skaven speech.

So they repeat articles and preposition instead of verbs...

Oh man, I understood it now...

Ok, it's silly. Only Ikit Claw should talk like that (because he is crazy af), forgot the Queek one in precedent post, I confused characters.

    Here is an Ikit's quote:

"Yes-yes. The essence of the warpstone feeds my machine. To create, one must-must destroy! To destroy, one must-must create! This will-will be great-best invention! Make-force all skaven bow-grovel! Destroy-kill all-all enemies!"

Seems normal. But only for him. Queek on the contrary speaks very well even by Skaven Standards.

Well Skaven are annoying in every way possible. There is no right way of Skaven talking for me, just exterminate them.

I am a bit surprised at that, but then perhaps not. Wulfrik can call Dwarfs stunties in the diplomacy menu, Norsca has a tech upgrade describing them as stunties... and as far as I know Chaos forces generally don't call Dwarfs that, maybe stunted ones but they're not gonna straight up use a Greenskin term.

I thought Andy Hall was writing things. Maybe they have multiple writers, and a few of them have only skimmed the lore.

This Skaven mishap makes them come off as more brain-dead than devious but I'm not a huge fan of the rats so it doesn't hit me as hard. Still at least CA gets it right on their speech like 2 times out of 10.

It's weird, because there are examples of proper Skaven speech in the army books. I initially thought it was developed for Black Library novels, but no. It's a bit sad CA missed an important part of Skaven characterization.
