Game wont start, says it is loading and then syncs and doesn't load up.

I have tried to install all of the redistributables in the game files - didn't work
I have reinstalled the game - Didn't work

I have reinstalled my graphics drivers, didn't work

I have reinstalled Steam, repaired my steam library and deleted the download cache - didn't work

Please can you help.

I have exactly the same issues and have done the same in trying to fix it. No crashes at all, just tries to launch, then syncs then goes back to ready to play.

Will we get an update on this from an admin/dev? this is not affecting one or two people, it is affecting hundreds.

tried launching the Thrones.exe and it does the trying to sync then ready to play business. I then tried Launcher.exe and get 'program cant start because MSVCP120.dll is missing'

I get the same thing. Ive tried tons of stuff here on this forum, but sadly nothing works for me.

Guess we`ll have to wait for the developers to get a fix out..

Thanks for getting back to me Nate,

I have attached my Dxdiag file.

However I don't have a preference script or Modified log as there is no folder in "The Creative Assembly" for Thrones of Britannia, the only folder I have in there is for Shogun 2 which I have been playing recently.

    Hi guys,

I have solved the issue, I downloaded a driver today from AMD Radeon for my graphics card R9 200 version 18.4.1.

Upon reverting my graphics card driver to version 18.2.1 the issue resolved itself and the game is now loading.

I have the exact same issue with both thrones of Britannia and Attila. I am certain there is something wrong with the launcher file on both. There is no folder for Britannia.

    How did you "revert" it?

I have had no luck changing gfx drivers, I have tried about 6 diff versions going back a year or so. tried every other fix mentioned, still tries to sync then goes back to ready to play.

I'm having the same problem described here. Had it with Attila too recently, but R2 and ETW still work fine.
Haven't been able to boot the game to get the script or log but here's my dxdiag.

    Hi everyone,

I want to apologise that the launcher issue has been occurring for you. Would it be possible for you to attempt the below steps and then reply here if the issue persists:

    Clean Graphics Driver Installer Walkthrough
    1. Download latest drivers or Drivers you requested from AMD.com for OS
    2. When you’ve installed the software, make sure that after the software opens you tick the “Keep software up to date” check box.
    3. Click Local Driver, then click custom install
    4. Bottom right of the screen click the “Clean Install” button
    5. A prompt will appear stating that PC will restart after all drivers have been removed
    6. Once the PC has restarted, the AMD software will automatically start up and begin to install the driver you originally downloaded.

    Windows 10 Clean Install
    1. Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Nvidia Windows Display Drivers
    2. Change and remove button -> Confirm uninstall - > Reboot
    3. Nvidia Site -> Install required Drivers
    Windows 7/8.1
    1. Control Panel -> Add/ Remove Programs -> Select Nvidia Windows Display Drivers
    2. Click Change/ Remove or Add/ Remove -> Confirm Uninstallation
    3. Reboot PC after completion and when prompted
    4. Nvidia Site -> Install required drivers
    Kind Regards,

My driver is fully up to date. I could not complete these steps because there is no "local driver" to select, nor clean install button.

Click Local Driver, then click custom install
Bottom right of the screen click the “Clean Install” button

Having the same issue. I have already updated my video driver (AMD), updated Windows (10, 64 bits), reinstalled the game, verified the game cache on Steam, desinstalled all older versions of the Microsoft C++ thing, except the 2017 version... but nothing seems to work.

Before I desinstalled the Microsoft C++ thing I could actually start the launcher with no problems, but when I clicked "Play" the launcher would be gone and nothing would happen.

    What I do is:
    1) Start steam
    2) Click"Play" on steam
    3) Nothing happens

EDIT: Now I can launch the launcher, but when I click "Play" on the launcher it just disappears and then nothing happens.
    So:
    1) Start Steam
    2) Click "Play" on Steam
    3) Launcher starts normally
    4) Click "Play" on launcher
    5) Launcher disappears and nothing happens

EDIT: added an updated DxDiag file. If there's anything else I need/can provide to help solve this, please tell me.

This sounds more like the recent launcher issue.
Try deleting the Launcher foldler in Appdata\Roaming\The Creative Assembly.
