In ProgressGoverner/General skills not being recorded

Hi,

I am running build v1.0.0 11479.1360569

On several occasions, I have had the chevron notification appear to tell me I can skill-up a Governor or General. I have being clicking on either bard to add +1 zeal or priest to +1 loyalty. After clicking on the + sign to add the skill, it goes yellow to suggest I have spent the skillpoint, but the general/governors loyalty/zeal doesn't go up accordingly. I've checked by going into the family screen and checking for characters with the same name, but it appears that sometimes the skill points I spend are not being recorded.

Edit: OK, I think this is me being dense. It looks as if the nobles have negative traits, so I have to bring them back to zero before I can start to build them into positives.
