I think the hint is for a Medusa

NivlacACENivlacACE Registered Users Posts: 49
The hint mentions breaking free of chains and refers frequently to blood. Both of these relate to the lore of the Bloodwrack Medusa because it is led to battle in chains, and causes blood loss to anyone who looks it in the eye. I am pretty sure the hint refers to a new unit because it was confirmed that it would be FLC for the Queen and the Crone and FLC is usually a new Lord or unit and this one does not sound like a Lord. It could also be a Karybdiss but the Medusa dots the hint more.

    That would be nice and I hope we get it.

    I'm not hoping for much, though.

    I also think it will be Medusae, I read that they're more tied to Morathi but it would make sense to add them with this DLC.

    I’m thinking it’s the Bloodwrack Medusa for two reasons - the lore (chains/blood) and because the snake model and animations are already in game thanks to the Tomb Kings.

    Could be the Kharibdyss given the leak, but I’m betting on the Medusa.

    Pretty sure if it was Kharibdyss or Medusa they would have just come out and said so as it would greatly increase the sale of their DLC. It be awesome if it was, but you know - don't hold your breath =)

    "Bloodwrack Medusae are horrid half-snake creatures that have serve the whim and desires of Morathi, the Hag Queen of Naggaroth for many thousands of years. It is said that the the Bloodwrack Medusae were Sorceresses of Ghrond who used their magics and blood-feasting rituals to become more beautiful than even the gods" (DE 8th edition codex)

    "When a great campaign beckons, the Hag Sorceress sends warriors into the caverns below the Spiteful Peaks and the squalid lairs therein. Those who survive return to Ghrond with prisoners in tow -- Bloodwrack Medusae, their claws bound and their faces masked" (DE 8th edition codex)

    The hints about chains and blood fits the passage about Medusae in the codex really well, so if it's a unit it should be the medusae. So in that regard i agree with you.

    Although it is not confirmed that it's an FLC, quite the opposite. They have confirmed that only players who has bought the DLC will get it.

    I do wonder if they thought, 'lets be cool and mysterious', and now they are regretting not just being up front with that extra item.

    I don't think it's either Kharibdyss or Medusa, but if I was to chose between those two, it is definatelly Medusa, OP nailed it in their theory.

    Not to mention, Kharibdyss is a deep sea/ocean creature and doesn't care about the blood, since it swallow its victims whole and digest them.

    Well... if its not done, they cannot unveil it, can they?
    Might be an issue to advertise something that isn`t in a product yet... certain countries have very specific laws for stuff like that.

    Its propably gonna get its own little trailer etc.

    Reasons for:

    -> Bloodwrack Medusa

    - They are "chained" to their altars according to lore
    - They let anyone "bleed" who looks at them
    - Snake Animations are in the game
    - They already got mentioned in the DE Vortex Campaign

    -> Kharibdyss

    - They are captured and "chained" by the Beastmasters
    - They are Monsters that spill "blood" endlessly even from the Druchii
    - Hydra animations are quite similar, so they are in the game too
    - Data-mine revealed it's possible existence in the game files

    For me they are equally possible ... and honestly I couldn't even decide between these two ;)

    Can't we get both ? :)

    Meh to be honest ,i don't think it's anything substantial,it's something that they quickly thot up to eas the sting of the backlash ,if it's gonna the kharybdis or medusa it only shows that they didnt expect people to react so badly.Wouldn t it have been easier to work on it early to avoid it? I mean if its one of the two (money on the medus) good,but thats gonna leave the elves without a unique unit.They could have avoided evrything by giving the dark elves the kharydsis from the start ,keep the medusa as a surprise ,give the elves the skycuter and a dragon mage as a lord choice with fire/beast magic and every one would have been happy.

    Hint is about a medusa.

    In greek mythology, medusa is a gorgon.

    Gorgon=Ghorgon.

    Ghorgon confirmed!

    We don't even have a timeframe, as far as we know this "secret" can come out with WH3. I would advise against too much hype.

    CA Grace said that the hint relates to a FLC unit (for people who own the new DLC) and like I said those are usually Lords/units. So I doubt it will be an ability or campaign mechanic. The use of "mounstrous" alludes to well, a monster. So I think it will either be a Karybdiss or Bloodwrack shrine/Medusa. I think it will be a Medusa because of its relation to blood.
  • NivlacACENivlacACE Registered Users Posts: 49
    Also, The Sword of Khaine was confirmed as regular free LC, so the hint does not relate to the sword as some have though because the hint relates to something free only for people who own the new dlc.

    The "chains" could be referred to both the Kharibdyss or the Medusa. The part about of death and blood is clearly a reference to the rituals carried out by Khaine cult. So it could be either be a reference to the medusa, or just a generic expression referring to the DLC.

    Imho? They don't know yet. They added it due to the backlash, so it will take quite a long time before we can get either of them.

    In any case, best case we get Medusa or the shrine. There is no real possibility of getting both Medusa and the bloodwrack shrine.

    Worst case we get the reskinned Hydr... i mean, Kharibdyss.

    Do you really need an anser to that question? CA is a business, they do things to make money, designing and implementing units costs them money, thus reducing their benefits.

    Welp the longer CA hold off...the more humans see the price tag...the more they buy it before the inevitable reveal thinking that it's exactly what they want...it's all a gamble...a risk...

    Though...it should be what they want and what they need...they should not be forced to be "disappointed"...

    If it is a unit I hope it's a Medusa, it sounds more interesting than an anti-large Hydra.

    If it's the medusae, than I dearly hope that both Bloodwrack Medusae and Bloodwrack Shrines are implemented, there's no reason to do one and not the other. Once the art for them are done, slap it on Sepulchral Stalkers skeleton, for the medusae, and a stationary one on top of a modified Altar of Khaine; bingo, bango, bongo! Two new unique units! The Medusae themselves as monstrous infantry, while the shrine is more of a Mortis Engine support unit.

    I still want my berserk anemone-headed kraken though...
