A toast to CA_Duck

Hello,

I just want to take the time to thank CA_Duck. I dont know if our forum whining had anything to do with many of the balance changes or not, but when you look over the forums and some of the more salient points that have been made recently, it seems that the team got a lot of them. I know many of my own complaints were shored up. But I really appreciate that it feels like we're being listened to. So, from at least one member of the community who is enjoying the changes and a much more enjoyable experience overall I just wanted to let the people at Creative Assembly know that we do appreciate their work, feel vindicated when when they listen to us, and we can occasionally stop to say thank you between outrage and complaining. That's all.

Thank you for your time everyone.

I agree. Sometimes people are so passionate about the game or races, they go a bit overboard with it. And devs reading the forums try to find actually well put information throughout some of the not so useful noise. I bet it might be discouraging sometimes, but it is great that they still strongly participate in these forums.

Hellcannon makes several elves cry, so it isnt dead patch for Chaos either.

Chaos got a buff to dragon ogres, great ROR's, no longer has to fight mortis cheese, accurate hellcannons and still has the best infantry and monsters in the game. I dont know what else they could do to help chaos without thematically breaking them entirely.

Also I had to add this on as an edit: just the words "help chaos" feel silly coming out of my mouth. Chaos is really good right now. Really good.

Yeah this has been an excellent patch. Apart from the Cursed Blade issue (hopefully fixed soon), balance is the best its ever been. That's saying a lot since there are now 14 factions and over 100 possible matchups.

    Like i saidnin other threada
Dragon ogres still suck with proofs
And i never said chaos needs help
Go back and look stop.projecting your thoughts
I clearly said many up chaos units need help aka internal balancing

Also the great ror are not great anymore
And chaos maybe have second or even third best monsters in game ,its mainly shaggoths keeping chaos tied together

I am particularly happy with the vampire changes. The nerfs were all very appropriate and the buffs were all needed. Making Mortis engine's less lame to play against and vampire characters stronger, among other great changes like buffs to ethereal, vargheists, skeleton spears, dire wolves, and blood knights are exactly what the faction needed.

Now if only the black coach could get a look... I think I'll make a video on that soon.

Thank you for all your hard work CA_Duck.

    Well Khorneflakes,
I actually strongly dislike two of the three elf factions (Malekith let me burn copies of all his Screamo cd's back in the early 2000's so I'm okay with the dark elves. Nice guy. Uses "XD" a little too much though) and I still think this is probably the best patch we've ever had. Every faction feels pretty good now, like there's no clear number 1 and no clear last place. So, as another elf hater, I love this patch.

And the RORs are still really good, and dragon ogres are great now.
So just try to enjoy it, I think you can if you let yourself.

Slowly, but surely, we are making progress in the balance department. I don't agree with all the decisions being (not) made, but the game is in a really good shape right now outside of the one traditional broken thing introduced every DLC/expansion. Who knows, maybe one day MP will grow bigger because of the effort put into it.
Zeal is a moderate price for sanity

The vast majority of development is making the game work at all, art, animations, and single player/campaign.

Unit balancing is important but obviously far less resources can be placed there. Total War is NOT a premier multiplayer experience. It is a grand campaign experience with some multiplayer features tacked on.

I'd love for more multiplayer focus, but I also need to respect what pays the bills for Creative Assembly. So, I appreciate all balancing that work is done because I recognize that their resources in that area are too thin to do all the work themselves. I am grateful that they listen to us super fans who want to improve the game experience for the minority that play TW multiplayer content even though they could ignore multiplayer entirely and still probably make the same profit.

Well said. But I am better said! CA can make it a flawless multiplayer experience as well! I love the new feature which allows head to head campaign players to play as ai, this made the campaign SERIOUSLY worthy! Yet balance should be focused around quick battles 100% cause in campaign they can add events and tech to fix its balance. Also apply this percentage limit funds increased by level of general (they will be standard but can be increased by items too) so more lorewise campaign! This also benefits qb too! It's a close to perfection solutions to apply good caps!

Of course, because these bugs are merely a few messed up lines in the db tables that shouldn't show up in the initial release version in the first place. The lack of proper QA and db comparison tool is...well we all know that, don't we?
