The MODs the add dust and other effect to game does NOT work under the BETA. Could you please include the following:

An option to select/deselct battlefield dust and in what quality / quantity

AND

An option to use trinangles under each soldier that points in the direction he is headed in stead op circles? But of course make it an option "unit marker style: circles/triangles"?

Adding heavy dust effects would be amazing, Napoleon TW looks fantastic due to the smoke of guns, I´d like to see a ton of dust going un when units are running.

With patch 19 you can add the Gerula graphics enhancement mod, it adds SOME dust (not at lot) and other fx.

If you are using DeI you for some reason need to combine both the normal Gerula mod and the DeI version of that mod AND download the bloodbath.pack that is linked to from both pages in Steam Workshop.

I am not entirely sure about what I did to make the mod work, but I experimented with the combinations. Also the circles under the soldiers become triangles that point in the direction the soldiers are walking. Pretty cool.

BUT I would like to see these things incorporated IN the patch itself. I was told by CA support that the developers read these fora.

The dust does NOT work with "ancestral update BETA"

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback, @phaser1980 . There is indeed an issue we have found with the dust in R2, our dev team is looking into it.

    Thanks again!

Is there dust in R2 by default? I have never seen it without mods? I have only tried patch 18 and 19 + the new beta.

It turned out that the dust decals were not being displayed properly in the updates since patch 17. This is fixed now, so you should see the dust (without mods) when Rise of the Republic is released :)

That sounds really cool. I have dust now from a mod, but I guess your compiled c++ code is much faster than any mod.

I have figured out how to replace models and textures in .pack files. So I replaced the roman swords with a high polygon model and hi res textures. It worked well. The game got a good notch up with the more detailed swords.

So CA could do the same, simply replace the wireframe models with some more complex and higher res textures.

AT LEAST higher textures. I use a mod that replaced many land /environment texture with very high res texture. The games becomes so beautiful from 1.4 GB off new textures.

CA, you could really upgrade the look of the game by takling the old texture "masters" (hi res images) sample a few different resolution, and for example make "options->ghraphics->advance->"texture quality" = "half HD", "HD"

CA, I send you a screenshot, so your team can see how radically better the game looks with hi res textures.
Modern GFX card should be able to handle it.

    With hires textures:;

    Without:

It would be a very simple upgrade, make a hires textures patch. A lot of people will be happy and the 2013 release will soon be totally forgotten. Rome 2 need a bit ot a graphical upgrade.
