Can characters have bastard children?

happycompyhappycompy Registered Users Posts: 355
Simple question that I haven't yet been able to answer: do bastard children have a chance to spawn, like in Attila? Also, do husband and wife have to be statesmen for children to be born, or if generals, in the same province?

Thanks!

There are no bastard children, although these can be enabled via a mod. The current position of the husband/wife have no relation to the child location. The location of the child is relevant only after he/she comes out of age and is appointed general or admiral, which you can do in any province you own.

Thank you! I assume the table to enable bastards is campaign_variables?

Yes, I've already changed it, works completely fine.

Too bad that there is no bastards.
Bastards could be tied with the new intrigue option that allows characters to flirt.

Frankly, I am personally glad there are no bastards in the game. The prevalence of illegitimate children in Attila was very off putting. Which is saying something for me. It was a very tiresome exercise in the family tree set up, another thing I'm not enthused about. :)
