Yeah, so I am playing as Egypt, my leader had 4 sons, 3 of them died before coming of age, and the one remaining, Berenice (a woman who is one of my generals) is married to another one of my generals, but they are already 65 years old and have not had any kids.
So, since I cannot seem to be able to adopt anyone and my family appears to be sterile, what is going to happen when they die?

I am out of ideas to make them procreate xD

Sadly there will be a message that some other nobles take over and then this is your new family. I would love it if you can lose the game when your royal line dies out.

But maybe you can promote somebody so you gain gravitas which you can use for adoption or marriage request?

I can´t! That is the issue, I have checked that I am stronger than them (no need to insult) and thus should be able to adopt, but the message says that they are not a character I can adopt, so I cannot adopt anyone. I cannot get into detail since I do not remember the exact information, but yeah, I cannot adopt xD

I guess other nobles will take over my family after I pass

Probably is because both of them are fighting in different provinces and are way to far away, you can try to send your leader back to home replacing it for someone else, as the same with the wife, in that case they are togueter in the same area and well have babies LOL, you can try, in that case would make sense and be accurate since they cannot have family if they are not together

I imagine you've found out what happens by now, but as far as I know some mystery long-lost relative appears from nowhere to take over the reins.

I tried what you just said and this solved the problem. They are reproducing like rabbits now. It was a pretty obvious reason, you just had to put them together so they can ****, I don´t know why it did not come to my mind lol
