I'd suggest making politics a bit easier while being more immersive. How to do this? Have more events fire off while also making it so traits determine event types. Alongside this make it so that loyalty has a bonus coming with it standard instead of it just depleting. It should be so events are firing off pretty regularly and that's how party loyalty is decided. You don't let a party advance and they'll hate you and start trying to assassinate you and such.
