rome 2 will not start

bzenoobzenoo Registered Users Posts: 10
Hello,

I have been having issues since the ancestral update was in beta. When I opted in Rome 2 would not load, not even to the launcher. I was hoping this issue would fix itself once the update was officially released, however I am still having the same issue even after buying the rise of the republic DLC. Is there a way to fix this as my game was running fine until the new update.

Below I have attached my Diag file and preferences file, I hope this helps as I have been going through the forums and haven't found a solution so far, I have tried verifying game files, deleting rome 2 files, changing language, repairing files and nearly every other thing I can think off to try and get the game working, as I said the issue didn't exist before the new update so appears to be an issue within that update itself.

One of my friends is also getting this issue - he had it with the Ancestral beta and now it's still in the official release of patch 20.

Currently working on a whole lot more, stay tuned.

You would think this kind of thing would be ironed out before release. I was worried that I was having issues 2 days before the official release and reported it to SEGA, however they were of no help at all and just said to wait until the release, I've waited and its still broken, which is annoying as if the issue was addressed when I first reported it, it would probably be fixed by now. All these issues kind of makes me want to go back to when we had disks for games as you rarely had issues then haha

Yeah, its happening to me also. It's been like this ever since the Ancestral Beta came out and post launch its still not loading. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, completely resetting my PC, and validating my game files but the problem of it not opening still persists

Its not the first time this has happened due to an update, I pretty much abandoned Attila because of issues that kept coming up and I've had similar before, however the usual things just don't seem to work and I'm completely at a loss. The dev team really need to sort this out quickly as they have broken the game for some of us, I'm guessing you are using a slightly older PC like me (5 years old). Its a shame as I've played Total War titles since the first Medieval Total War, but the stress now of game breaking bugs on patch releases is really starting to make me loose faith in CA. I suppose one thing we can take from this is that it isn't isolated to just our computers and is definitely something wrong with the game update itself causing this, I even found I thread in the steam discussions that has a fair few tips from 2 years ago, however none of them worked either.

    Greetings,
Thank you for reporting this issue!
If possible, could provide your modified and mods log files, from your AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/Rome2/logs and attach them to your post?

    Best regards

Thanks for the reply, Here are the files requested, however I have also unsubscribed from all mods as well.

I am also getting the following error message when trying to open the launcher from within the game files.

    Greetings,

We are currently investigating the issue.
For the time being could you try installing this Visual C++ Redistributable Package manually.

    Best regards

The issue has now fixed itself. I deleted the launcher from the game files and checked validity of game files. This then prompted Rome 2 to do the first time set up again when I went to launch it, Hopefully this works for other people.
