Female leaders over represented

dougal_83dougal_83 Registered Users Posts: 75
Just been trying the new update but there is a massive bug whereby the leaders of other factions have become women. There might would be a few but they are over represented and breaking the emersion of the game. Please fix so I can restart the game with realistic ratio. Nice to see women in the family tree though, that is a nice touch.... shame about the bug.

You will notice that Rome and most "Greek" empires can't have female generals because they were known to be very patriarcal cultures. Which weren't the "norm" back then as much as reactionaries would like it to be.

Now Total War is about making your OWN history. CA repeatedly said that at the moment you click on the "End Turn" button at the end of your first turn you already deviated from history. So let the barbs/nomads have their women generals (If they decide to field them) and you butcher them or anything if it so displeases you.
But please do it SILENTLY without trying to politicize an issue that shouldn't be.

    They are not overrepresented.

OK. Unrealistic? In a game where it's tried to be relatively true to history, this unrealistic number of women leading nations is surely a bug and needs to be looked into. I have no idea how this bug didn't get picked up in beta!

It is not unrealistic, especially for celtic and illyrian tribes.

    Cartimandua.

    Bouddica.

    Teuta.

    Adea (Eurydice II)

Eurydice's birth name appears to have been Adea[1]; the sources are silent on when it was changed to Eurydice. She was brought up by her mother Cynane, and seems to have been trained by her mother in masculine and martial exercises.

    ...

But the death of Antipater in 319 BC, the more feeble character of Polyperchon, who succeeded him as regent, and the failure of his enterprises in Greece, and above all, the favourable disposition he evinced towards Olympias, determined her again to take an active part: she concluded an alliance with Cassander, and, as he was wholly occupied with the affairs of Greece, she herself assembled an army and took the field in person.

    Audata

Audata not only maintained an Illyrian identity in a Macedonian context but also passed that identity to her daughter and granddaughter.[4] Illyrian women led armies in battle, a skill that Audata taught her only child, her daughter Cynane.

And i could make further examples about ptolomaic queens and princesses and especially for the Kingdom of Kush.

I'm so sick of guys, which talk about realism and knowing nothing about it...

    No bug.

    Please close thread.

Several comments removed as they were outside forum rules. This thread seems to be a bug report so moved to the support forums.
Please provide a saved game illustrating the point, and any other supporting information.

@Timmmyymym so, what factions exactly are suddenly ruled by female characters?

I only ask because I started up a few new games in grand campaign with a couple of different factions to check for myself, and I only see a handful of female faction leaders. Doesn't look like any of the faction leaders have changed at all to be honest.

Just install DeI bro, it rids the game of all the **** DLC's and politically inspired themes, ala female generals.

Palmyra should have every female not allowed to become a general except possibly Zenobia. She only became regent after her husband died and her son was too young to rule.

Thank you I'll do that. CA is a pathetic. Doing this to an existing title is disgusting especially when Mods exist... Forced diversity... not on my money.

Forced diversity? You only get female generals if you intentionally recruit them and give them political power. Just go ahead and custom make an **** faction with just men if it’s such a disgusting thing to see females ruling barbrian kingdoms in a historically INSPIRED game. I however, find the cute female generals and a welcome addition.

Take your hate filled bile elsewhere. This is a discussion on a historical title not a fantasy. There was no need to inject this into an existing game. Don't like it, don't buy it comes into effect. As CA moves into fantasy another company can take up the historical title space. Free market.

Let's stop this right now. Everyone needs to keep their personal bias' out of the conversation. A computer game is a opportunity to escape from the world issues and cares, not a reason to start another bickering and attacking line of commentary.

To be blunt, ease off, or else.

Given all the hatred the poor devs (and their respresentative) have gone through, I just wanted to say I'm personally very happy with the update that allows to have stunning Cleopatra as faction leader/general. Teuta, Zenobia, scripted historical queens or even random ones, all this is adding a new flavor to the game and made me start a playthrough as each of them cause I got interested. The fact the general's 3D model looks pretty is an added bonus.

And the update as a whole is just resfreshing. The marriage ability is pretty badass too. Heck, eventually, we might have something that can rival the CK series in the diplomatic/family line/character/politics aspect.

So, to the devs, you're doing great, most of us love your work. I just hope you find some support in this knowledge.

P.S. When do we get a Medieval III ? To me, Troy is a nice comeback to something more realistic and to my taste. I just want a Med III and enjoy your work on Rome II.

People are allowed to voice opinions... well they should be. Instead... somehow not liking an idea is misrepresented as some kind of attack on the person who holds that idea. This is not constructive.

Also what is not constructive is a moderator in a position of responsibility making threats... "or else". What are you going to do make a historical title and make all the characters female? At least be honest and make that sell before people buy the product.

Out of interest, who is against historical representation of women?
