Would It be a good idea the addition of trade routes now that Araby is a great possibilty?

Hello everyone.

Who doesn't miss to observe those trade paths where small caravans are travelling? For me in Warhammer TW their absence was not a big issue, but now that I see that every DLC-update they add new features (Sword of Khaine, Island battles, etc.) I think It would be a good idea to add them, not necessarly on the traditional way where every settlement is linked.
Now that Araby is on the horizon, which as a race has a lot to do with trade and economy, they can add major trade routes with trading posts (which do exist in warhammer world) wich you can battle for their control, once you capture it you get some bonuses, that would add a lot of strategic depth to game, specially if you can block or sack the routes as well, that way expeditions would not be always for conquest. And when you control all the routes you became the king of trade, and as I said they would be major trade routes like the spice route wich are connected to cathay and other parts of the world, do you like the idea?

They'd probably make it their unique mechanic.

Trade routes would be great for the game in general. We need just a little more of a true economy and another way to "battle" your neighbors than only invading.

I think this would be more appropriate as a game 3 feature considering ogre kingdoms are all about controlling the trade routes that go to Cathay, which are arguably the most significant trade routes in the warhammer setting.

I see no problem if they add others for the old and new world.

You can't even change your capital, don't get your hopes up. Would probably be easy as hell for CA to make that possible. Not just that, lorewise for a lot of lords it would make sense too.

Yes i fully support this suggestion. I want map to live! Some action! I really liked in older titles of those trade caravans and trade ships on the sea traveling around.

Reminds me of the good old Shogun 2 where it was the rush for the trade spots :D.

I agree that if it's implemented it'll probably be as on of Araby's unique mechanics.

With the amount of pirates in the ocean now and random factions, you never actually interreacted with, declaring war on you. Trade would most likely be in shambles all the time. Play Empire Total War and you will see why you don't want someone halfway across the world to be able to heavily disrupt your income.

Doesn't have to be at sea only though, trade can happen on land too. Think of the Silk road (although that would be great if Cathay came up in game 3).

In mi HE camppaign pirates are not warmonger, at least with me, they just wonder throughout the sea, pacifist pirates :) However pirates on Empire TW are very agressive, from what I remember you are at war with them by default.
