Absolute LOVE the new beta patch that is out now.

Finally not using skill points more on OW lord on skills that benefit low tier units I won't use in the end. This is something I really wanted and I think I am not alone in this. Now I can finally save some very valuable skill points for my own (roleplay/effective) build I want for my lords. This means a LOT in terms of fun in gameplay for me personally.

C.A. You are doing a fine job lately. a FINE job indeed :) thank you very much for doing all the things you have done the last 2 months.

Greatly appreciated. Just started a new campaign as the Barrow Legion, and it already feels more complete then the previous old world campaigns I have been doing. Really happy about this one.

Hope everyone enjoys it, its a great stap in the right direction when it comes to the old world factions in Warhammer.

It looks good on the notes. Can't bring myself to play the game lately. Tried to play a Harkon campaign just after Vampire Coast launched and was disappointed to find I was too bored to continue after 40 turns or so.

That's an issue with me, not the game. I've put in thousands of hours over the two games and I guess I have burnout. It doesn't help that vampire pirates were never on my radar when I was a table-topper. There was no nostalgia or affection for the faction to keep me playing.

The skill trees update is a big deal to me as they were something that always had a big impact on my playstyle with every faction. (If units didn't get good boosters, they often didn't get used)

Glad the devs are continuing to re-vamp (pun intended) the old world factions. One day I may return and it would be great to have even more wrinkles ironed out.

It was starting to looks like there would never be a proper fix for the skill trees power creep, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that CA is finally starting to make some serious work to fix that.

    Agreed it’s a nice patch.

Throw in a big updates for grenskins, empire and beastmen (in that order) and the game will be a very fun play indeed.

I also really, really like it. The new talent trees are a cool rework. So many new considerations; and so many saved levels!

And thanks for making the vigor loss talent only a single level. That was extremely helpful.

I do see your point. The burn out feeling feels very familiar.

May I suggest something ? Best cure for me was ; before VC came out, I didn't play the game for a month anymore after playing it daily for years. I picked up some other games I really wanted to play like assassins creed origins and now red dead redemption 2. It worked wonders.

I hope you find your inspiration back for the game !

I am very happy with this too

now if blue trees could get updated too that would be great for the next patch after this one goes out of beta :)

    snip

It's much easier and more fun to get engrossed in lore that takes itself seriously and tries to make sense within its own frame of reference.

the reason I prefer LOTR over warhammer fantasy and 40k

Good to hear your happy too.

We shall have to see:) for how this is a great thing. Something I personally waiting for a long time. I started a borrow legion campaign yesterday wish crashed and deleted the saves. Maybe it was a blessing because today I started over with the new beta patch and I am really hope it fixed the crash problem for me to. If so, an problem turned into a blessing because now I play my new campaign with nice new skills and have a lot of fun with It:)

Kemmler is really cool by the way in his own , new campaign. Love it. Never really realized he has 3 quest items too!! With add a ton of fun in my opinion. It's a very interesting and intriguing campaign so far.

Thanks Dark Lord. I've been getting back into Dominions, myself. Love that game so much.

I'm sure I'll be back on my chariot one day. Hopefully with further Empire and Greenskin updates to play with.

Yup, CA did a great job here and Game 1 races have made a huge leap forward in closing the power creep gap. We are almost there, now if we could get:
    • Rites/Army Abilities
    • Blue Line Parity
    • Post-Battle Loot Options Parity
I think we would be there. On the topic of post-battle loot options, it kind of boggles the mind we are not still there, given how simple this change would be. For example, the Skaven eat captives option restores far more HP than the Greenskin and Beastmen eat captives option. High Elves can enslave captives of any race for replenishment, but Humans and Dwarfs can't? How come the Vampire Coast's dominate captives option heals for more than the Vampire Count's option? Also, don't get me started with the no penalty-ransom captives option for Game 2 races, whereas Game 1 races get hit with a 5% replenishment penalty for doing that.

Nice patch indeed. Almost made me replay a Malagor campaign even. That’s mighty praise indeed!

But alas I am suffering burnout. Haven’t played anything meaningful after the Vampire Coast update bar a Noctilus Vortex campaign and a Arkhan ME campaign. The last of which was three weeks ago or more.

Can someone elaborate on what exactly is changing about the skill trees?

I couldn't make heads or tales of the chart image in the patch notes.

Start up a campaign to see what it means. Most important change is that the personal combat lines (the yellow) change from 3 points needed for most skills to only 2 points. Also that Old World races now have red lines that look like New World races.

You know how wh2 races have the red skill tree that you don't have to unlock tier 2 to spend 4 in tier 1 ? So you don't have to waste skills on the first tier on units you might not want to spend it on ? Like that, with tier 2 now being a 1 skill point buff for a selection of units like wh2. You know, those really good ones that give a whole range of buffs (good ones too) for a few units at once and only cost 1 skill point.

That's for me the best part. No more spending 4 skill points on swordsman (example) in order to unlock the next tier so you can take the great sword skill buff skill.

Dont forget norska lord can now buff all units. And some red uniq skill compressed in 1 point, or like Ungrim had uniq yellow skills 3 tier compresed in 1 tier but now requir high lvl.
So example Ungrim now had (if conf as grombrindal) at 1 rank units giant slayers 88 attack (include all bonuses and 7 rank too) and 68 dmg vs HE plus 30 anti large. Star dragon just die in seconds.

Almost same situation for dwarfs Hammerers and their arty. Dwarf very strong in campaing.
