Total War: THREE KINGDOMS – Development Update

CA_EllaCA_Ella Posts: 310Registered Users, Moderators, Administrators, CA Staff Mods, CA Staff, Community Team

We have some news about the upcoming release of Total War: THREE KINGDOMS…

It’s been an incredibly busy and exciting time for us in the studio. We’ve been able to show you more of Three Kingdoms than ever before and taking the time to evaluate it thoroughly.

There are some revolutionary features going in and it’s looking really good. But we want to make sure it’s great. So we’re moving the release date to 23 May, 2019.

With Three Kingdoms, we set out to create a new level of complexity. As such, we need a little more time to make sure these systems deliver as intended and give you the Total War experience you’ve waited so patiently for.

Of course, the extra time won’t hurt when it comes to fixing those bugs that have been hard to nail down, getting the localisation just right, and adding additional polish to help it shine. We all know those little details make a big difference.

We’re lucky to be in a position to do the right thing for our games, and in this case it means taking the time to get everything ready for you. It’s more important to give you a game that you can enjoy to the fullest, rather than stick to a release date just because.

We know not everyone’s going to be happy about this, but ultimately, we believe this the best thing for the game and our players.

For any questions, please take a look at our FAQ here to see if they have already been answered: https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-three-kingdoms-development-update

That is the great. Take your time, my dear CA. Polish the game. Do not disappoint us, and make us proud.

It's alright guys, no need to rush anything, better a well polished game on release than one that will need to be patched heavily immediately afterwards.

    Well that sucks.

I'm disappointed and more than a little annoyed. But if it has to be done then it has to be done, I guess.

    Sad to hear so.

Good luck with the polishing and looking forward to most complex TW experience ever!

Fair enough. Nice to have a polished game on the first playthrough.

It's looking good on the whole, but I doubt the extension will be enough to make battles particularly special. Many of the issues we see there have persisted through numerous titles, let alone months and years.

Thank you for the update! Good luck with the continued development and please don't burn yourselves out (not sarcastic here).

It would be good for the game if at least the biggest bugs would be fixed before the game's launch. :)

Not surprised, but I rather they take the necessary time to make sure the game is up to par. However it is also a double-edged sword. They better make sure they have major bugs fleshed out and that it is not completely different from what they have been showing to the community (I.E. like Rome 2). Now we play the waiting game.
Most peoples' response to Rome II expansion...."Please Sir may I have some more"......

My Massagetae, battered and bloody, but undefeated in the field! True masters of battle :)! Masters of campaigning on the other hand, unfortunately not.......:(

It's sad and all.....but, I'd rather play a polished game than a rushed game. Look on the bright side guys

    I hope it's worth it
My favorite factions in TW titles:
Rome 1 - House of Julii
    Medieval 2 - Milan
    Empire - England
    Napoleon - France
    Shogun 2 - Tokugawa
    Rome 2 - Macedon
    Attila - Western Roman Empire
    Warhammer - Empire (Karl Franz)

Let's hope that CA would finally fix the infamous gate bug that is plaguing many Total War games.

Well, like Miyamoto said; "A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever".

    *points at Duke Nukem forever*
Every wrong is recorded. Every slight against us, page after page, ETCHED IN BLOOD! Clan Gunnisson! Karak Eight Peaks! JOSEF BUGMAN!"

CA hates the Empire confirmed. The FLC LL for the new Lord Pack is Gor-Rok. Meaning the Empire still hasn't gotten their FLC LL. And no, moving Balthasar Gelt from Reikland, where he should be, DOES NOT COUNT. If they wanted a LL in the Southern Empire: Marius Leitdorf of Averland or maybe Elspeth von Draken in Nuln...

Where is Boris Todbringer? Have you seen him?

Does it mean you will ALSO postponed the release of the next DLC for Warhammer? Or since you postponed 3K, take the opportunity to slip the DLC for Warhammer before ?

    In the blog:

Will this affect/delay the upcoming WARHAMMER II DLC?
No, this will not have an effect on or delay the upcoming WARHAMMER II DLC, but this does mean that the WARHAMMER II DLC will now arrive before the release of THREE KINGDOMS.

Get the game into as good state as possible, its disappointing having to wait another 2 months....But it's good if its to further improve the game and disinfect away some bugs, glitches etc :)

Really looking forward to this title ;)

God I was so ready for 3K and was so hyped for it to be coming in less than 4 weeks. I hope you lot at CA can understand when I say I'm upset. That said, I totally get why you guys are doing this and am still hyped for 3K.

Let's hope they give us plenty of videos, trailers etc to entertain us in the meanwhile.

    From the FAQ:

How will this affect my pre-order?

The only thing that will change is the release date – your pre-order will still be valid and you shouldn’t experience any issues surrounding it. if you do have any issues or further questions, please contact SEGA support or your individual retailer.

It should do, given that there was previously a week's grace.
