Oh oh, another unique and cool daemon! Khorne, you bloody bastard...you have so many amazing followers and creatures! I'm a Slaanesh and Nurgle fan, but i'm very intrigued to play with Mono Khorne before them.

I mean the Soul Grinder isn't a Khorne exclusive and there are Soul Grinders pledged to all 4 gods.
I don’t have a problem with the rules for this unit but I have to say the aesthetics bother me. Perhaps have it walk on crab claws and get rid of the metal.
I’m willing to give CA the benefit of the doubt with it though; so far I’ve agreed with just about all of their design choices.

Yes as long as the aesthetics are changed I've got no problem either. But as it is? Gods no.

The aesthetics should indeed be changes. I had no qualms with them taking inspiration from 40k stuff and putting in fantasy and vice versa as daemons often don't look out of place in either or. Also, so long as they were properly adapted to fit the scene.
Soul Grinder was not, they didn't do a substantial thing at all. So it still looks like it should be 40k. It's not got a steampunk element to mimic empire, or organic which most others show.
Never been a fan of this model. Looks too much like they smashed a generic-looking demon fellow on top of a Chaos Space Marine Defiler. Also the name... GW at its most generic. "Noun verber"-syndrome.
I remember when they added this to TT, they were like 'all the fantasy daemons can be used in 40k because we provide alternative bits for both in the box in instances where the models aren't the same! So you should try both games'
Then I saw the soul grinder, and it was so obviously just a straight up 40k unit. It looks like a daemon prince tried to take a defiler as a suppository and then stopped when it got to the crab legs.
The moment I saw that model it was obvious that GW was like 'should we do something about this model? It doesn't really fit fantasy... maybe we could add another monster.... NO that'd cost money and wouldn’t be in the 40k army book so we wouldn't sell as many... just make some **** up about it being bound to the machine for some reason. Who cares if that still doesn't explain why such an advanced machine exists in WFB to begin with'... and then I audibly said "oh **** off games workshop" and every one of my friends and I decided to pretend it didn't exist from that moment on.
So basically my answer is no... that thing does not fit the aesthetic of the game world and should not be in the game.
People are trying to remove units from the DoC roster...really? And that's another good reason why we need Monogods (4 mixed Daemons + Warriors + Beastmen rosters, from all the GW material) and why they must be in the game. Since, in the end, DoC will only have half of its roster at very best, if CA takes these comments into consideration, LOL.
Since i'm not a "half-done and incomplete roster is good" fan.........i would like to see Soul Grinder in the game, in one of the Monogods rosters at least. Peace.
What a hideous unit. It's literally just a 40k unit shoved into fantasy. It makes as much sense as Chaos Space Marines.
Remove the cannon, make it more organic (like the Juggernaut) and it'll be good. CA have fixed other ugly TT units. This will be their biggest challenge, hopefully they can succeed.
I am The Beast of Guanyin, The one who beasts 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, Vanilla Gorilla, The great bright delight, Conqueror of Mountains, Purveyor of wisdom, Official forum historian, Master Tamer of energy, the one they fear to name, Beastradamus, The Teacher, Master Unbiased Pollster, The Avatar of Tuesday, Chief hype Train Conductor, Uwu Usurper, Pog Wog Warrior, Poggers Patroller, Alpha of the species, Apex protector, Praetor of Positivity, Drybrush Disciple, Sophisticated Savage.
If they give us all the other units, including all the greater daemons and the daemon princes and heralds, I have no problem with also throwing in a soul grinder. But this should be the last unit created, as all the other units are more important. As others have said, this is really more of a 40k unit.
It was never meant to be a fantasy unit, just an attempt at making some extra cash from GW.
There are lots of other, more deserving, units than this 40k abomination.
I agree. It doesn't fit.
It doesn't fit Currently because it's got a defiler body and a cannon. Just doesn't work for Fantasy.
It can be fixed though.

We can rebuild him, we have the technology.
We have the creativity.
The 6 million Charlemagne unit.

It was something GW initially recognised: the 7E DoC book was released simultaneously with a 40K DoC book (although I forget which edition). The 40K book had the Soul Grinder, the Fantasy book did not.
It was added to Fantasy in a later update, probably after they'd decided to go to AoS.
A visual redesign would probably cover it, though.

Yeah the Soul Grinder was added to WFB in the 8th ed. book. Up until that point GW understood that it didn't belong in WFB and so left it out... then in 8th they stopped caring and added it in anyway to boost sales and came up with some BS lore for how it existed in the WFB world

If I recall correctly, they made one of their rare between-book updates between the major books where they added the Soulgrinder to Fantasy. Can't remember whether that was technically in 8E or 7E, but it would definitely be after GW retconned the Storm of Chaos timeline and started the End Times timeline instead.
Regardless, when the Soul Grinder was first made, it was a 40K-only unit. It was added to Fantasy when GW stopped caring.
I agree with those saying it should get a visual update. Right now, the mechanical parts of the Soul Grinder look way more sci-fi than anything we've seen in Fantasy, and that includes Chaos Dwarf daemon engines.

Can't wait for the "Toad Dragon vs Soul Grinder" battle.

So yeah, aesthetic redo then I'd be alright.
