Trading equipped items

Hey guys,

a lot of great changes were showed in the last stream. Wheels and Tom adressed the question of searching for items yesterday. But one particular thing i would like to see is the opportunity to trade for already equipped items. Most of the time the best Items seems to be used by a character. That means you can not trade for them. So the chance that you are going to find a item you need (like Thaishi Ci´s bow in the stream) are pretty low. I saw in a stream that a few items are part of a set. Owning all parts of a set gives you nice bonuses. For example the set "the wall".

So giving us the opportunity to trade for equipped items would be a great way to increase the importance of them in diplomacy. I already can see myself making bad deals in diplomacy just to get the all the items I want :)

What do you guys think?

    You can trade equipped weapons.

However, most time AI is not willing to trade the weapon currently being equipped because why would they?

Tashi Ci had his bow, but it was taken by Han Empire. AI decides to not give it back.

I sort of agree, I would like at least the option to "see" what ancillaries, weapons & followers my encountered rivals have and TRY to trade for them. Anything has its price. AI just has to have it sort of calculated.

For example, I think Tashi Ci without bow is pretty useless or at least not so powerful, because 2 out of his 4 abilities have to do with the bow (Quickfire & Composite Bow), so maybe I just release him from service and find a different character.

I would say that this is an argument against item trading though, because you could possibly cripple certain enemy characters by taking their important items. I feel like the items are often an important part of the character, and when you have to beat them in battle to get their items it feels like an extra reward for defeating strong characters.

Well, it's what I'm trying to say, the AI crippled Tashi Ci because the Han took his bow. I like the idea as the battle rewards, actually it's one of the things I like most.
But at the same time you should be able to buy them back, albeit for a high price (negotiation).

The issue with gear, mechanic & RnG is made apparent in the last week stream (i believe) where Taishi Ci's bow was taken away from him.

This is not a big issue if crafting is actually implemented in 3K. I think Tomb Kings crafting is done with near perfection, it wasnt overly OP as it is freaking expensive in the early to mid game due to the currency (canopic jars) involved and also unique resources.

I personally dont really like to trade weapons or armor as it is rarely done. Ancillaries & followers are different though as it is common for Lords in ancient china to loan/trade men of talents as well as other smaller accessories but armor/weapons are personal items that are rarely traded & could be a poor exploit of game mechanic like some have pointed out.

Hence, my point being, a crafting system in my opinion is the best to solve this problem from a multiple angle. Firstly, you can craft cheap gear in early game and to better customize your characters based on the gear you choose rather than praying for a good RnG (lol), it gives players more CONTROL. Second, the crafting will list out all of the crafting recipes so players will have an idea what items are actually in game. Most common items are craftable with some unique & rare legendary are craftable (expensive to craft & requires high faction rank) but heirlooms like Lu Bu's trident or Guan Yu's blade are not craftable or duplicate.

Since we have assignments, some sentinels with craftsmanship traits assigned to supervise in crafting could potentially increase the quality of item being crafted. Legendary heirlooms can be crafted when a person becomes an Emperor (limited to 2 legendary crafts per emperor but items will be buried with the Emperor if he dies). After all, the best gear is usually reserved for the Emperor.

If you own a weapon crafters bulding you have a chance to get new items each turn (including unique items) so some crafting is involved, although you cannot choose what to craft.

About Taishi Ci, the problem is not about weapon trading I think. The problem is that his bow is unique and there is no basic bow, so all his archery skills become useless. But if Lu Bu loses his unique spear, he can still use his skills witha normal spear, so it is not as big a setback. The Taishi Ci situation would be solved if there was a generic bow he could use if he lost his unique one, worse stats but still able to use his skills.

To both @united84 and @yolordmcswag you have a fair point.
