Hi guys, a couple of days ago I ran into a problem: after launching the launcher and pressing the PLAY button, nothing happens. There is no TWW2 in the process, only a launcher. Tried a lot of ways to fix it, but nothing helped. (It used to work)

I have the same error.
I deleted the launcher then reinstalled it using the verify function from steam, but this did not solve the problem.

The game still won't start.

Where did you delete the launcher from? If it was the one in the Steam files that isn't the one you need to remove.

You need to delete total-war-launcher folder in appdata.

yh um the only appdata folder i have is in my ssd and it has no launcher or nothing what to do

In the Appdata folder should be a folder called Roaming, inside that will be a folder called The Creative Assembly which should have a subfolder called Launcher. Try removing that one.

Alternatively, you could submit a ticket to SEGA Customer Service about this. Here: https://support.sega.co.uk/hc/en-gb/requests/new

You reach the Appdata folder by pressing Windows-key + R and then type %appdata% and hit enter.
That tells windows to find and open a folder somewhere in the system called appdata.

The launcher is hidden in the folder called The Creative Assembly

I did everyhting but still does not working. When click to Total war Warhammer icon on desktop each time loading steam client and Microsoft directx for windows than launcher opening after that when click to start just being a black screen and coming back to desktop. I downloaded 18 gb for the game but does not working

Hey this works for me :

1. Go to your steam library SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER II\launcher (not the %appdata%)
2. Find launcher.exe
3. Right click > properties > run as administrator

This solves my problems

Happend to me too since the last update. I tried both solutions and verifyed the game files. Didn't work. I don't use any non official mods and have the steam version... So any ideas?

I tried everything in this tread and still having the same problem. The launcher open, but when I press to play the game the launcher closes and nothing happen... with Attila and Rome 2

For me, not even the launcher opens. Click Play in Steam and that icon shifts to say Stop, then switches back to Play. Launcher never opens.

My error is similar. I do a fresh install the game works. Microsoft update I hit play on the launcher it shows running but nothing happens, I update WH3 hit play on the launcher nothing happens and Nvidia I update hit play nothing happens. Now my work around has been long the only solution is to update everything then fresh install. This is not a great solution. This problem only started this year and it affects warhammer 2 never had problems with updates game ran smooth until launch of warhammer 3.
