Rename Factions

Although this does not change the game, for consistency's sake, why not rename Warhammer II's factions (Naggarond, Lothern, Khemri, Hexoatl) by Dark Eldars, High Elves, Tomb Kings and Lizardmen. Because in the first game we have Empire, Dwarves or Wood Elves.

    Would much rather they updated the original game’s factions - with multiple start positions now being a thing it makes a lot more sense IMO.

    Thanks for the mod, it's not wrong that having the possibility to "reunify" a race is better. I sometimes wonder why CA doesn't take up the many good ideas of those who make mods.

    It'd also be nice to simply be able to rename your faction at will, IMO.

    We can already rename units, characters, settlements, and even provinces...

    ...why not factions?

    Agreed, I want WH1 factions to follow the WH2 model. However there's no mod that I've seen that gets all the names right in my opinion and there's some that just can't help themselves and get way too indulgent with them. Faction names should be relatively simple and follow the naming convention for other factions within that race. The names that should change are as follows:

    The Empire-> Reikland (reverts back to The Empire after confederation or significant conquest)
    Dwarfs-> Karaz-a-Karak
    Clan Angrund -> Karak Eight Peaks (upon taking K8P)
    Greenskins-> 'Ardboyz
    Vampire Counts-> Castle Drakenhof or Sylvania
    Beastmen-> Warherd of the One-Eye (Morghur and Malagor should also get their own factions, W.O. the Shadowgave and the Crowfather respectively)
    Wood Elves-> Talsyn
    Bretonnia-> Couronne
    Warriors of Chaos-> Archaon's Horde or Horde of the Everchosen
    Norsca-> Sarl

    I think Warriors of Chaos can stay as is, but I do like these changes. Especially that when you start Confederating you get your proper title! The empire isnt an empire if it is divided!

    I always thought it was weird, when "Von Carstein" wiped out "the Vampire Counts"... Vlad is also a Vampire Count, so that is somewhat contradicting. The way WH2 is much better, and seeing the remnants of WH1 is a bit painful.

    I like the way Europa Universalis does it. Having some missions to reconquer some territories/ confed with some factions to get a new country name. Would be great to see something like that as well, or at least some dynamics to change your faction name from Hexoatl to The Lizardmen for example.
    Races I'd like to see, in order of preference: Chaos Dwarfs, Southern Realm/ DoW, Araby, Nippon, Hobgoblin Kharnate, Kuresh, Ind.

    Question , is Talsyn seen as the capital of the wood elfs ? Do they even have a capital go begin with?

    While I disagree with the OP's idea about renaming individual factions (we need them separate for separate start positions), I would like to see something akin to the system used in some of the historic TW games - where the faction names changes once you have built your entire empire.

    And, it should be built into the victory conditions. We should be encouraged to unite the entire Skaven/High Elven/Dwarf kingdoms. And once we do, the game should give us the option to rename to "The X Kingdome" (or whatever makes sense).

    I still think just allowing you to rename your faction on the fly would more than solve this whole dilemma.

    Although they'd have to make it so that you cannot use the name of a faction that is a) already in existence, or b) can be emergent.

    True, but that doesn't address the names of all of the other factions. If you're playing Mannfred's faction you can change your faction name to whatever you want, but Thorgrim's faction will still be the Dwarfs, Orion's will still be Wood Elves, Wulfrik's will still be Norsca etc.
