They'd make a great tier 2 fast cav unit for Ogres. Lower in number than the dogs currently in game and more powerful but serving in the same role.
I am The Beast of Guanyin, The one who beasts 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, Vanilla Gorilla, The great bright delight, Conqueror of Mountains, Purveyor of wisdom, Official forum historian, Master Tamer of energy, the one they fear to name, Beastradamus, The Teacher, Master Unbiased Pollster, The Avatar of Tuesday, Chief hype Train Conductor, Uwu Usurper, Pog Wog Warrior, Poggers Patroller, Alpha of the species, Apex protector, Praetor of Positivity, Drybrush Disciple, Sophisticated Savage.
Great unit, always was a fan of Smilodons, hope that animations they use increase chance of getting White Lions for Chrace, and that they have some pounce sync kill vs infantry human or standard horse.
Sabretusks are best kitties, still need to read up on this
You'd need to read the first book in the series before reading this right?
I have read the first two-four chapters but I stopped. I have been distracted by work, WH2 and some recently purchased Ciaphas Cain omnibuses. However as far as I am aware all you have know is that two guys explored Lustria and lived to tell the tale, and that is really about it.

Maybe a slower but higher damage output version of ice wolves. Can make them an elite version of that role if it that makes sense
It does.
Though I'd have them be the fastest Ogre unit. Ogres are surprisingly fast as is.
On the TT they were used as Arty killers and Wizard hunters. Often taken alone due to their terrible leadership. Given dogs play that role in TWW it makes sense for Sabretusks to play it as well.

On table i used them to pull enemy charges, often fleeing from the charge, just to pull a unit out off position to flank charge that with a unit off ogre bulls in my following turn, i really hope they could be used this way if ogres get released, If not they are good for going around the flanks and into the cookie jar, killing off arty crew and maybe the lower tier range units.
since ogre hunters couldn't be lords leading army's i think he wil be a hero, and if he is i hope his skill tree will include some cool skills to buff sabers and the other monsters in the army he is in, since sabers could only be taken as hunter pets in the first army book (7e edition) this could be a nice nod to that
If we're getting the White Lions for the HE then you can get the Sabretusk, that's for sure.
Could happen either way. CA has a good record of back adding units when made for another. OK need variety so cats for OK, oh surprise, look what low hanging fruit suddenly pops up for someone else. Unless of course one of the incoming DLCs covers HE then they're kinda short on units.
