Why are there no natural disasters in the game?
I mean, would it be hard to add that?
China is a country of continental size, suffering from all kinds of natural disasters.
Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, storms, winter storms, sandstorms, droughts, yellow dust, diseases, plagues, wildfire...
And they are not rare events, they have on average 11 tropical cyclones per year, varying between all kinds of intensity.
I do not need an incredible animation on the campaign map.
Only a notification, just like the Events.
Explaining what type of disaster occurred, where it occurred, penalties, options that I have to solve the problem, or mitigate damages etc.
Throughout the history of China, times of misery and natural disasters are seen as signs of heaven considering the current ruler unjust and the need for a new ruler, or even dynasty.
I mean, one of the self-legitimating arguments of the Yellow Turbans Rebellion was that the Han Dynasty had lost its Mandate from Heaven and according to them, one of the proofs of this was the inability of Emperor Ling government to deal with an famine aggravated by a series of small floods along the Yellow River.
In terms of the game, Natural Disasters would not only result in loss of life, destruction of structures and/or monetary losses, but also loss of morale, contentment, prestige, faction support, etc.

That stuff stinks.
My personal collection of hazardous tests and quickfixes (yes this is a link).
Wondering why you get some traits on your characters this may give you a vague idea
Balance enthusiast, I like tinkering and messing with stuff and values. Cool heads prevails !

1 · Disagree AgreeI do not want a "natural disaster simulator", and I did not ask for it.
I just thought it would be cool to introduce this into the game.
Some Events related to natural disasters would be a cool addition, I mean apparently the game already has a Locust event, why not add a little variety?
After all, East Asia and Southeast Asia are areas with a high incidence of natural disasters.
The Southeast Asia are part of the Alpide belt and part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Both seismic belts meet in Indonesia, causing the region to have relatively high occurrences of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
East Asia is also affected by both tectonic zones, as well as having several completely different climatic zones, whose interaction with each other ends up providing an ideal environment for the recurrence of natural climatic disasters. Like droughts, floods, hurricanes etc.
Every year these regions suffer loss of life, infrastructure and huge monetary losses due to natural disasters.
And while yes, climate change is worsening the situation, the problem was already there.
