Forge World

If I understand things correctly, mammoths, skinwolves and the new dread saurian all come from Forge World. Perhaps there are others as well. I really like these additions. What is the connection between Forge World and Games Workshop? Is it a subsidiary?

The units in this game come from a mix of sources. Most units come from the Core Armybooks 8th Edition (though with dipping into previous editions).

Other sources include supplements such as Sigmar's Blood (Where all of the Grim and the Grave DLC stuff came from RoR and LL wise.), Monstrous Arcanum (supplement focused on big, showpiece monsters...Dread Saurian, Necrofex Colossus, Skin Wolves, Fimir, etc all came from here), Dreadfleet (a chunk of the Vampire Coast came from here.)

Finally, White Dwarf the print magazine for Games Workshop also provides stuff for Total War Warhammer (it used to come with rules for new characters, special armylists (Chaos Dwarves and Vampire Coast began as these), and so on.

    Forge World is a subsidiary.

Forgeworld is a side shop of Games Workshop. Where GW itself produces the regular stuff for retail, Frogeworld can design additional stuff that is not fit for "line duty" and will end up even more expensive while being bigger & more detailed stuff. They even work in the same building so for all accrods, Forgeword is GW. Same as GWs "Sepcialist Games" are just a sideproduction but still GW owned and intervined with their mainsystems.

And yes, there is a lot of more Forgeworld stuff that could be used. From Miniatures they once produced but are not available anymore, over to whatever they still have available for Age of Sigmar to the stuff from their Monstrous Arcanum book which never got miniatures. A total list is probably a bit much, but to showcase some stuff

I strongly believe that every FW piece should get in. I just love them to bits.

That is actually a own build thing. The Scarab only had artwork+rules, never an official miniature.

One more for the Empire Fans ;)

Nice 👍 was there an airship version in one of the armies?

It's probably worth mentioning that the Marienburg Landships are not meant to be better than Steam Tanks, iirc. They were attempts to replicate Steam Tank technology that ended up requiring a bigger steam boiler and a cheaper chassis (hence the wooden ship design).

I would love to see this beauty make it into the game as a Dwarf DLC, alongside Rune Golems. However, I can imagine it not being used too often in online due to it being such a massive target, even with all of the weapons and bombs it brings with it XD

That is GW/Forgeworld for you. Sometimes they just don't get the size right. Don't let the Preyton miniature fool you, he is on par with other monsters stat and ruleswise.

I put the Tomb Scorpions as "non monster" for the single purpose to point out that CA seemd to increased their size a bit in TWW. So in theory, if they would do a Preyton, they could increase his size also to look a bit more like Wyvenrs/Manticore/Chimera size if needed.
Or if we want to stick to BoC comaprisions here, around the Jabbawookie size. Since that monster is statwise not really better then the Preyton.

Okay off topic but I really like that flesh toned Jabberslythe! Makes it really fit with the rest of the Beastmen.

Wouldn't happen to be your army would it?

Nay. I only played Goblins & Daemons.
Just looked for a comparision picture for the Jabbawookie and found that on Dakkadakka.
