They've made it Like the Tomb Kings, so you can only recruit 1 Dread Saurian and 1 Feral Dread Saurian.

But if you construct the military buildings in your minor hordes you get +1 Recruit Capacity for the Dead Saurian and Feral Dread Saurian.

So basically you get 2 Saurian's Per army which seems fair and will keep the AI in Check.

The complainers were mostly people who wanted to be able to spam fullstacks out of a single province, like other top-tier units, and claim that it's totally unfair that units have both upkeep and caps.

However, it really is essentially a tier 6 unit, so the extra restriction is, IMO, warranted. That, or nerfing its durability back down to its tabletop durability (tabletop Dread Saurians could dish out a lot of damage, but were less durable than Star Dragons - not even close to War Mammoths).

I don't think a single person ever said expensive units shouldn't have upkeep. What a ludicrous argument.

This is the only cap I'm ever willing to accept in the game, one tied to buildings. It even makes more sense lorewise than an army-per-army cap.

Well... Tomb Kings don't, and that's the basis of the argument: Tomb Kings set a perceived precedent for having caps instead of upkeep.

However, this works because the Tomb Kings are built from the ground up to work this way, and we've had RoR having both caps and upkeep since Grim and Grave. Given that the Feral Dread Saurian is practically an RoR Feral Carnosaur, and the Dread Saurian is practically an RoR Ancient Stegadon, both of which are tier 5 units in their own rights, I think a similar treatment is warranted.

wasn't the dread saurian just a forge-world model, never appeared in official tabletop rules?

Monstrous Arcanum. I'm on my phone at the moment or I'd give you a page number.

Base Dread Saurian has T7 and W6, which is the same Toughness and less Wounds than a Star Dragon. There are a handful of upgrades that can make it tougher, but not War Mammoth levels of durability. Its offensive capability, however, is higher than the Star Dragon.
