Limited options for spending prestige currency in the late game

When playing as the empire you can spend prestige on electoral machinations and later on on summoning the elector counts. However, in the late game, once the whole empire is united, this currency no longer serves a purpose and stacks up without being spent, other than on summoning elector counts.

I propose that this currency could be used to buy perks in the late game, such as upkeep reductions, reduced building costs etc via a series of 'imperial events' involving the nobility of the empire.
