Crash on multiple different campaigns on ai faction turn

diagonal_zerodiagonal_zero Registered Users Posts: 12
It always happens to me in no Dark Elves campaigns. In this case count noctilus. But with Belegar and with Vlad, it has happened as well.

If you dump the file into something like windbg it tells that it is a null pointer exception in warhammer2!updateui method. Please fix whenever possible. I really want to continue my non druchii campaigns.

Ooh, so you managed to find the actual source of the problem. CA Somehow broke the UI code. That's bizarre, you'd think they wouldn't have touched the UI at all.

So this is the cause of all the save corruption issues that a ton of people are having?

I'll give my dmp files a look through with Windbg. Never used it, but I'll see if I can figure something out.

Yep, it's the exact same crash.

Now we have an idea for the problem. The assembly instruction cmp is checking a byte (8 bit integer, 0-255 in value) at the location in memory, it's index being the combined value of the register rax + 0C8. It's seeing if the value is 0. But something is wrong with that index, which causes the exception to occur.

@FiftyTifty awesome that you could do it too. I am a developer so I have seen things like minidumps before, but I did it because I though it was one of my mods crashing the thing. Well now we know what the error was but it would not help too much withouth reproducing it, as the crash with Windbg does not tell us contextual information (like other variables status, other events prior to the crash or the exact line and file of the crash). Send your save file if your game is not heavily modded (I have 27 mods so it would make the bug reproduction annoying for the CA devs).

Thanks for confirming the bug dude. That helps a lot too for the devs to isolate real problems from relative problems.

Have a nice new year you all!

Hey guys I'm having same issue as yours: it happened twice with DE Malus campaign. It crashed on AI turn 120ish and then on the new one around 45ish. I will install Windbg and check the dump as well.

I have run the save game corrupted with the debug attached and I can see the same error that you described:

This problem happen when I try to load the corrupted savegame and when I load the savegame not corrupted (but then it crash while I move to the next turn during IA turn)

Hope CA will have a look at this...

Yep, it's the exact same bug that everyone else is having in campaign.

Again, new campaign with Malus Darkblade and same problem :'( . I'm going to try with a different faction hope the problem will not arise...

Make sure to create a ticket with CA, and submit the same files as advised in the sticky. The more reports, the better odds we have of getting this game to actually work.

I've consistently had this error on turn 5 of every campaign I've ever launched in the last few weeks.

Ow the supreme irony. My 10 yold work PC locked up viewing this page =)))) aaaaaanyway...

So with having like 2 weeks free over the holidays and Edge and Blade coming i thought , sure time for some TWW. Now i was running a frankenstein list of mods i tryed to update back from when i last played when Coast was released , so about a year, wich i also added to while playing to the point where i seem to have hit my mod limit of 57 mods. As in my TWW would lock up and crash on start screen with 57 mods, with 56, it'd load.

I played a Huntsman, WoC, Welf and Counts campaign. These worked "fine" except every 2-5 manual battles my game would crash. About 80% of the time while loading the battle and say 10% right after loading , during deployment and another 10% after the battle. But allways around battles. Meh, massive old mod list , old install, makes sens, i thought

Then i started a Norsca campaign and ow boy..... that campaign got corrupted @100 with 94/94/94 and Just starting on Eagle. Usual simptoms, loading locked up in the first quarter of the bar , could load ~ 5 turns previouslly but inevitably that would become unloadeable to.

I said !@#$ it. SFO was updated (it was still under construction in december). I uninstalled TWW , making sure to deleted CA folder in app data as well and got a fresh SFO mod list using KMM. I started 2 Greenskin campaigns, these wouldn't get past 20, crashed and unloadable during the enemy turn , usually when the AI would offer some kinda diplomacy. But my mod list / load order still wasn't 100% so i didn't pay it much mind, was still testing.

Started another Norsca campaign after rejigging some mods and this was pretty perfect. Crashed about 4 or so times , radnomly really, but never around manual battles and i was happy i thought, it's finally fixed! !@#$$#@$%, that Norsca campaign ALSO got corrupted around turn 70.

Then i started another greenskin campaign and that thing is the MOST unstable, crashing @battles AND randomly on the campaign...

"Ooh, so you managed to find the actual source of the problem. CA Somehow broke the UI code. That's bizarre, you'd think they wouldn't have touched the UI at all."

I mean they broke Coast, Counts and Lizardmen AI, and some of my crashes seem to happening when the AI offers diplomacy on it's turn, hanging when the diplomacy UI would dissapear, then boom, crash.

They should srsly fix this, I can't enjoy this game anymore, supposedly this is the only game that made me happy and not feel that I have wasted my money on it.

I'm in an SFO wood elf campaign with no other mods. At turn 27 it froze during the AI diplomacy phase twice when it was Wydrioth's turn and the beastmen Manblight Tribe showed up. The second time, after some different actions by other factions, the game lasted until after Wydrioth invited me to war with Manblight as their military ally.
  • swaybackswayback Registered Users Posts: 2
Welp. I just reloaded it a third time and it worked. AI actions seemed to be exactly the same as the second time, and I didn't do anything differently.
