Ai Marian reforms in vanilla Rome 2

When do the Marian reforms trigger for the AI in vanilla Rome 2 main campaign when you are not playing as the Roman's?
Is there a turn number or a date they trigger or do I just have to wait till the AI researches the right technology?
Does using the 4 turns per year mod affect this in any way?

It does not "trigger" it's just another technology that unlocks buildings/unit upgrades. You will have to wait a bit. You may try a higher difficulty level if you want them to research faster.

If you use simple TPY mods the number of turns of the tech will be the same, however the date will be earlier.

Or you may like the Imperator Augustus or Caesar in Gaul DLCs, there Legionaries are available for Rome from the start.
