So I came up with a question-
Why are generals listed as having such a small “melee power” stat (like I’ve seen a vanguard have 3) when regular cavalry can have like high twenties to low thirties? I ask because I have seen generals as a unit totally decimate a regular cavalry unit one on one, but I wonder how that is possible if the general units “melee power” is 3 to 10 times lower than the cavalry unit they crushed?

Perhaps if a Hero somehow lost their weapon or were under the effect of an adverse special ability (IE -50% armour or slowed attack speed) and since most heroes can only hit 1 target at a time without splash even if they do 2k damage it is only applied to a single model where 30 cavalries doing 50 damage (melee and AP) have a theoretical 1500 damage output (never happens that way).

0 · Disagree AgreeIt's when you go with simplified stats. Both Heroes and Generals have ridiculously low melee power
Also regarding hero v unit combat, the heroes actually do splash damage but there is a twist as I don't think they actually do splash damage when they do a "kill move" animation (and they still take damage while doing so) which could perhaps explain why horse heroes are better than foot heroes bar the mobility issues. (I didn't test it extensively however so this may be rubbish as I didn't find a way to disable kill moves)
