Possible Stuttering And Lags In Troy

HistoryOfMortalsHistoryOfMortals Registered Users Posts: 21
I know that total war troy hasn't been released yet, but I have a concern that my laptop will have a lag and stuttering while playing the campaign of total war itself since I will have it in my new laptop

My Laptop :
Lenovo Ideapad C340 core i7 10th Gen
with Nvidia GeForce MX230
with SSD space 1 TB (which should be more than enough)

What I heard from other people is that my laptop is primarily used for drawing and editing rather than playing, so could you guys give suggestions and tips on how to make my total war game not lagging and stuttering a lot while in the campaign? Because I tried other games like Killing Floor 2, PUBG Lite, Albion Online, and Crusader Kings 2. And those games starting to lagging and stuttering after I played for a while, which those same games didn't lag or stutter for a while when I played them for the first time. I tried to reduce the graphics, set my graphics into more focus in performances rather than quality but it seems didn't work for some games like Killing Floor 2 and PUBG Lite, so I am kinda afraid that my laptop cannot handle big games with big graphics like Total War Troy.

RAM? ...RAM is one part of Notebook/laptop that can be increased. Not always it is possible but could be, check manual for what amount you have and what is limit...

lower settings, quit all background stuff like browsers, skype..running programs, unnistal all crap stuff like Lenovo/Asus/whatever brand you have utility software(s)..

Use CCleaner or some somilar program to get rid of old registry entries, unused bits. Possible reinstall system if your installation is 2+ years old...

No your graphics card seems limited. There is a simple and radical solution that does not risk destabilizing your system, if necessary, to lower the resolution. But before you do anything go to the gamedebate.com site, and test your system on the latest total war out. The minimum configuration is always indicated. Good luck because total war games can be very lax; then you have to check.

Rebonser i come from the site game debate where I tested on an I7 8565 and a 230. The result is below. Basically a last generation I7 is perfect, but it's the graphics card as I feared that's going to be limited. Nevertheless it seems possible to play in low. If you have a thunderbolt 3 port, it is still possible to add an external graphics card reader; but it is an expensive solution. Good luck in any case.

    GAME DEBATE :

    "Graphics Settings: Low
GPU PERFORMANCE: In summary, you should avoid trying to play Total War: Three Kingdoms with the GeForce GT 230

SYSTEM SUMMARY: This system may have troubles with Total War: Three Kingdoms. But with some clever adjustments you may be able to run it."

Just one last word; I referred to 3 kingdoms because the Epic Games site indicates a minimum configuration for Troy Total War which is almost identical to 3K.

I have 8GB RAM in my graphics card, so does that help?

No I'm sorry it will only play on the margins; you should know that equipping cards not too powerful with a lot of memory is a marketing trick that also allows to increase prices. According to Game Debate you can play, but in low. It remains of course the solution of the Thunderbolt 3 socket and an external graphics card reader (plus the graphics card to buy); it works, but it's expensive and it's better then turn to a computer with a better graphics card. What can still allow you to play low is the power of the CPU which is good. Before you buy hardware, test the setup on Game Debate to see what's appropriate. Good luck.

Note: I did the test in full HD, do the test by lowering the resolution on Game Debate in 1600 or even 1200, you may have a nice surprise. If someone more qualified than me can help you on the forum I will be glad for you.

Thank you, I appreciate it, I will try to find another solution for this

I can't see you being able to upgrade the graphics on that laptop honestly

The Total War series has by default in the graphic option menu the "recommended" icon that automatically adjusts according to the computer. Otherwise two options are to be known; reduce antialasing and unit size to a minimum. Otherwise Nvidia automatically sets up with Geforce Experience, but not all games are a part of it; It depends on their success; for example Thrones of Britannia has never featured in Geforce Experience (unless I'm mistaken). Good luck and good game.
