Dwarf Tanks exist?! (Tractator Engine)

I was browsing the Wiki looking for little things I may have missed and I found this on the Tractator Engine:

https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/The_Tractator_Engine

"In recent years, only one army has made the long journey from the northern hold of Kraka Drak all the way down to Karaz-a-Karak. Seeking to forge a path straight through the mountains, the Engineers of Kraka Drak converted their revolutionary ‘tractator engine’ from gigantic rock grinder to a mobile garrison, fitting it with multiple Organ Guns and Steam Cannons. The Engineers carved a bloody path through the Orc tribes that infested the mountains, though they ran so short of coal that the motive power was often provided by goblinoid corpses set aflame by potent liquor.

The tractator engine's finest hour came when the Engineers and their men were assailed by the heavily armoured Black Orcs of Red Eye Mountain – the cunning Engineers pivoted the tractator's engine's crane arm so that its giant runic lodestone, originally intended for gromril mining, dragged the plate-clad Orcs off the edge of the mountain path"

First time I heard of it. It’s like one of those many lore blurbs that give you an idea of a rare piece of weaponry without making a model for TT and giving it rules.

I assume so, like all of Grimm Burloksson's creations; Quarellers w/ explosive crossbow bolts, Grudge-Rakers stuff like that. or like the Dwarf rune weapons that we never actually saw a full unit of.

Thats not all, there is also the "Ancestor Engine", which is essentially a Steamtank with a Runic Statue with the appearance of an Ancestor on top of it, which is kind of a semi-golem, attack enemies in melee. A mix of Rune-Crafting and Engineering. I think its an evolution of the Juggernaut.

And yeah, I bet the Dwarves have steamtanks....they even have a Steam-Train (See Warhammer Age of Reckoning) and Steamboats

Makes me think of Mortal Engines, why did they have to make a flop

Dwarfs are more advanced then they look it's more their very long R&D process.
So...the Light's vaunted justice has finally arrived. Shall I lay down Frostmourne and throw myself at your mercy, Fordring?

It’s about time the dwarves got a flagship kaiju. Slow moving Zeppelins and crane/tanks would suit the heavily defensive tactics of the dwarves brilliantly!

    not just the dwarfs.
In the short mention of a "competition" between human (empire) and dwarf engineers (spark by the humans, aka Nuln, claiming that they out doee the dwarfs), there is the mention of "mechanical angels".

So... if CA really wants to make a Dwarf vs Empire LP around this theme... my body is ready...

Not much of a competition when one side can barely repair one of there most beloved weapons, meanwhile the dwarfs desigh new helicopter models every time they want a new gyrocopter because standardization is for wazzocks

Sounds more like a melee tank/chariot type of mower compared to the old Juggernaut which is closer to Steam Tank.

rather than tanks what i really want for them is light attack all terrain vehicles that function as motarized chariots like tiranoc chariots,

I'm pretty sure their R&D process is literally just the old guard in the engineering guild rejecting any new fangled ideas, which only eventually pass through because the old generation dies and their inventors become the new old guard, only to continue the cycle.

The source is listed as "Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles (8th Edition) pg. 196" but I checked and its not there, in fact, it doesn't even seem to be in that source book at all. Can anyone confirm where its from and if this is corroborated elsewhere in the lore at all?

I dont know were did you look but it is there, check page 196

Blood Bowl Dwarfs got you covered
    Hear the summons of Hashut!
The Dark Father calls you to slaughter,
Blood and fire exhorts you to war!
    Hear the summons of Hashut!
Stretch your limbs of blood-filed steel,
The Dawi-Zharr march fourth once more!
    Answering the summons of Hashut!

I want the tractator engine (massive tank)
I also want deathrollers (bulldozer motorcycle wheel of death ridden by a dwarf)
    And ofc the thunderbarge.
It needs to be pointed out that what people call "cheese" is just playing the game the way it actually exists not in some fictional way they think it is supposed to work.

That has more to do with paradigms than literal research advancement.
