Merga is a Chaos Sorcerer in the service of the Shadowlord in the city of Mordheim.
She was sent to the City of the Damned by the cult of the Purple Hand to discover what had happened and how the cult could use it.

Good thread. I'm currently on a TWW holiday and playing Mordheim cotd which I picked up cheap at the publisher weekend, and am playing as Cult of the Possessed. So, very timely.

Chaos cults are underdeveloped in my opinion. I think they are a much better way to represent thr threat of Chaos than the chaos warriors. And this post reminds me of that.

I whished we had a proper army for the cults. It could include many different themes of units like:
-the cultist themselves as lords and heros, plus maybe some elite units
-mutants of various kinds as specilazised infantry and monstrous infantry
-mercanarys, criminals and revolutionaries, who fight for the cult either by deception or for the gold
-auxillaries in the form of corrupted basic units like empire state troops or basic bretonnian knights

The potential for unique and new units and diverse playstyle is great, not to mention the various themes, perspectives and depth such a faction could offer.

But sadly Chaos means for the most part, that its Warriors show up out of nowhere and smack you in the face...
I really don't like the warriors of chaos from a thematic point if view.

I really hope we get Van Horstmann for a tzeentch aligned WoC LL. Bringing with hima cult mechanic including his version of undercities with different cult actions.

And this lore shows the rivalry between the church of sigmar and cut of ulrc.hopefully we get this too when the inevitable middenland LP arrives.

Apparently the 'sequel' suffers from the same issues that torpedoed the the original. RIP mordheim game.

Tzeentch cults sound super fun though

Really wish we would see a great Mordheim game at some point.

Me too, Atm Valkia, I read Horstmann around a year ago. I read Sigvald around 4 years ago with a seperate novel (in getman) but in the upcoming years I wabt to refresh ot in english with this omnibus😁

You may want to download Ultimate Chaos. It has Cultists (And even a Cult Grandmaster who can summon lesser Daemons!), mutants and god-aligned servants.
