Rome Total War 2 Will not initiate

Hi all

I am relatively new to the PC gaming world, my Rome total war 2 was working fine up until around 1 month ago.

Now unless I hurriedly start Rome total war straight away from turning my computer on, it won't initiate.

I click on the game icon, and the total war menu comes up, regardless of whether I click play or continue campaign, the screen then goes black as if to load, then goes back to my desktop.

I have checked my drivers, checked the game files through steam, does anyone have any ideas?
