Update mod or post as new?

I have a mod on steam that I recently changed some things and now it is incompatible with saved games that used an older version of the mod. (I basically renamed a lot of db entries to be more consistant, so no idea what the problem is)

Should I update it on steam with a disclaimer, or post it as a new mod completely?

Basically learning as I go, so wanted to do the right thing.....

I think you should just update, if people come asking why it doesn't work, just explain it to them.

Thanks for the response Rewan, that makes sense.

During final testing I did find a typo in the tables that might have caused the incompatibility, but sadly, I had already deleted all my old saves so I can't test.

I'll follow your advice, not that there are thousands of subscribers anyway.....
