Settings making my Game Crash

I have all the requirements to play both Thrones of Britannia and Attila, I'll spare the hardware details but I have a brand new 2020 computer which should absolutely run this game. However, the moment I run battles, I am instantly brought back to the home screen with no crash report option. I have done everything I can, clearing my cache data on steam, restarting my computer, but none have worked. I'm very confident that the problem is that computer runs directx 12, however these games require 10 or 11. I have done my best attempting to switch my directx to 11 but manually doing this is extremely difficult.

Is there anyway where I can go into Thrones of Britannia or Attila's settings and change the directx I'm using to 11? I cant find any option in there for that, and I don't think I can do this through a file.

You could try the compatability troubleshooter https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-older-apps-or-programs-compatible-with-windows-10-783d6dd7-b439-bdb0-0490-54eea0f45938 and perhaps run in Windows 8 mode which I don't think has directx 12. Alternatively you may be able to edit your preferences.script.
