"Elite Knights" Unit Size Mod for Blood Knights / Grail Knights

This is a small mod that reduces the unit size of Blood Knights and Grail Knights (including Grail Guardians), giving them better health and weapon damage (including splash attacks) to compensate. All other main stats (Melee Attack, Melee Defence, Leadership) remain the same, but the Blood Knights were also given access to "The Hunger" ability (regenerate in melee).

I made this mod because these units are portrayed in the lore as the elite of the elite -- truly superhuman cavalrymen -- yet they are portrayed in the game as essentially just good cavalry. My aim was to affect the overall balance of the game as little as possible while changing the flavor of these units to be more in line with monstrous cavalry: much tougher and stronger on an individual model basis, but rare and therefore lower in number.

Full list of changes:
  • Unit size changed from 60 to 32 for Blood Knights, Grail Knights and Grail Guardians (from 45 to 24 on large size)
  • Blood Knight HP per model increased from 116 to 217 (result is nearly identical total HP at full strength)
  • Grail Knight HP per model increased from 112 to 210 (result is identical total HP at full strength)
  • Grail Guardian HP per model increased from 128 to 240 (result is identical total HP at full strength)
  • Blood Knight Weapon Strength increased to 33/17 (Normal/AP) from 25/13
  • Grail Knight Weapon Strength increased to 30/20 (Normal/AP) from 23/15
  • Grail Guardian Weapon Strength increased to 30/17 (Normal/AP) from 23/13
  • Splash attacks for up to 2 small targets (infantry only) added for Blood Knights, Grail Knights and Grail Guardians
  • The Hunger ability (small health regen in melee) added for Blood Knights
Credit where credit is due, this mod was inspired by and partially based on two older mods that dealt with each of these units separately (although this mod is different than both in several ways):

This mod has been updated for Silence and the Fury. Below are the changes:
    • Blood Knights Melee Attack lowered from 32 to 30 (same change CA made to go along with Frenzy update)
    • Blood Knights model HP lowered from 217 to 210 (The Hunger ability allowed Blood Knights to overperform slightly at original HP values; their HP has been lowered to match Grail Knights)
    • Blood Knights Bonus vs. Large increased from 22 to 25 (lower model count causing disproportionate problems against other cavalry where splash attacks do not apply)
    • Grail Knights Bonus vs. Large increased from 12 to 14 (lower model count causing disproportionate problems against other cavalry where splash attacks do not apply)
    • Encourage attribute added for Grail Guardians (Grail Guardians weaker at dealing damage to massed infantry with lower model count; rather than boost their damage, I am trying to offset this with some additional support capability)
    • Grail Knights, Grail Guardians, and Blood Knights default unit rank set to 3 from 5 (quality of life change to put these units in a better default formation given their reduced model counts)

This mod has been updated to include changes for Dragon Princes and Chaos Knights as well. As these are elite but not necessarily superhuman cavalry, their numbers have only been reduced from 60/45 to 48/36. Their HP and weapon strength stats have been adjusted to compensate (in the case of Dragon Princes, some raw strength was sacrificed for the addition of Bonus vs. Infantry damage or increased Bonus vs. Large damage from the Fireborn RoR), but this increase is less substantial than what was given to Grail Knights / Blood Knights since their numbers weren't reduced by as much.
