Hello everyone,
I like having thematic armies, and I would like to know what army composition would be recommended for Korq-Gar.
I don't know much about his lore tbh, but from his description and his Lord effects I'm guessing it's a core of Saurus Warriors + Feral carnos + Stegadon/Bastiladon.
Any recommendations?

However, Chaos pursued them deep into the jungles of Lustria, which turned into this giant cat-n-mouse campaign of Kroq-Gar retreating, then ambushing, then hiding, then sabotaging, then falling back. His army was a motley crew of an entire city. He likely had a little bit of everything at first, and used what he had. This likely included Skinks and Kroxigors and anything else.
However, this is where Kroq-Gar’s theme kinda shines through….. he didn’t really know when to quit. Whether it was a Spartacus thing, or a Captain Ahab thing, or something else, Kroq-Gar KEPT attacking Chaos. Even after he could have taken refuge in other cities. Over time, his entire army was either killed, or decided to call a new city home. But not Kroq-Gar. Him and Grymloq continued to wage a 2-lizard war against the Chaos forces in Lustria, until they found themselves fully surrounded. Kroq-Gar and Grymloq saved each other’s lives numerous times during this campaign, and developed a special bond, unique even amongst Lizardmen. But their persistence almost doomed them.
Ultimately, it was Mazdamindi who led an expedition outside of Hexoatl to rescue Kroq-Gar, and rewarded his martial prowess by making him the head general of Hexoatl’s armies.
^From there, while Kroq-Gar is appreciative and loyal to Mazdamundi, and does his bidding, (again, using whatever army is provided him), Kroq-Gar seems to relish any excuse to be ‘let-loose’ against Chaos. Him and Grymloq have fought on every single continent doing Mazdamundi’s errands, and thwarting the various plans of the Ancient Enemy. But they are known for leading armies off in far away lands, on the hunt. NOT standing sentinel on Hexoatl’s walls.
So a Kroq-Gar campaign is not ‘thematic’ for the units that you choose. It’s ‘thematic’ for how you fight it. Which is to say ‘there are no brakes’. There’s no turtling. There’s no ‘waiting for the AI to initiate a siege’. Especially if it’s against Chaos. You’re going to constantly sally out, push forward, ambush, and hunt, casualties and pragmatism be damned. You can still be smart about it. Kroq-Gar knew when he could only pick on weaker targets and when he had to retreat. But his retreats were just to give him enough space to plan his next attack.
So he’s not a ‘Slayer’, who constantly seeks the most powerful opponent possible. But he is aggressive, persistent, and more willing to fight deep in enemy territory rather than sit on a defensive front at home.
^Play him that way, with any army, and you’ll be playing a proper ‘Kroq-Gar’.
